The week went by fast and again we are back to church. I sat at the very back of the church to avoid everyone and just settled on watched videos on my phone.
~Rome POV~
"Isaac come on! We are going to be late for church!" I shouted out trying to rush everyone in the house. It was our first time at the Last Supper Church and I couldn't wait.
Isaac was my little brother, he was 12 years old. I am 18 years old and just started my first year of college. We had just moved here in Canada and I love it so far. The constant cold weather was my favorite, although my white skin ends up looking really pale during this time.
"Rome, Isaac! Let's go!" My dad yelled from the bottom of the stairs and I straightened out my suit with my hands and made my way downstairs. I was wearing black pants and black suit jacket along with a white long sleeve under and a blue bow tie.
We got inside the car and my dad whispered a short prayer for a safe drive and we were headed on our way.
~Christian POV~
"Grace has its way in your life! I beg you! To receive the Grace of God!!" The pastor went on and I plugged my earphones in to not hear all of his chattering anymore.
I don't hate God. I just want to make that clear. I'm just angry with Him. I am very angry. I wanted Him to save me and because he didn't I am upset and I don't want to forgive Him.
I felt the soft cushion next to me dip a little and I removed one earphone from my ear and looked up at a boy who looked to be around my age. He looked at me and then down to my phone and gave a small smirk.
"That's one way of worshipping God." He sarcastically commented while pointing towards my phone with Nicki Minaj music playing.
I glared at him and wondered why he chose this seat out of every other seat.
"My name is Rome." He held his hand out waiting patiently for me to shake it and I rolled my eyes and unwillingly placed my hand in his. "Christian." I mumbled.
"Beautiful name, Christian." He repeated as if he wanted to get a test run on saying my name out loud.
"Thank you." I smiled at the compliment and went back to my phone. I was about to place my earphones back in when he took them from my hands and pointed at the pastor.
"You don't want to listen to the message?" He frowned and I nodded my head no.
"Why not?" He asks and he is slightly getting on my nerves now. I sit in the back for one reason. To avoid interaction, but yet here he is bothering me and questioning me like it's any of his business.
"You know, for a person I have never met before, you sure do make an impression." I glared and he let out a small laugh.
He laughed. This dude really laughed. What's so funny?
"I just moved here from Tennessee actually. This is my first time coming to this church as well and so far, you made the worst impression when all I did was sit next to you."
I rolled my eyes and nodded letting him know I heard him and shut my phone off to listen to the pastor.
I looked in my peripheral view and saw him smile that I put my phone away.
"Annoying." I grumbled under my breath and sat still listening while patiently waiting for Church to end.
~~
Church came to an end and I was quick to get up and move away from Rome. He was quiet the entire time, attentively listening to the pastor. I on the other hand, tried to talk to him since I clearly was disturbed while listening to my music, but he would just ignore me with a smile. It was basically his way of respectfully saying 'be quiet and listen.'
I went to look for my sister Iyanna because I wanted to go before I felt a hand tug on my wrist. I moved my arm away and turned around to see Rome again. I had an internal battle with myself on whether or not I want to run away or engage in conversation.
I chose to stay.
"Where are you off to in such a hurry? I thought we were becoming acquainted," He raised an eyebrow and I sighed. "I just was about to look for my mom." I lied and he looked at me skeptically. "Well, I will go now..." I mumbled and began to turn around again when he gently tugged on my shoulder. I inhaled a large breath so I can answer him calmly. "What's wrong this time?" I sighed as I stared into his hazel eyes that actually were very beautiful.
He is slightly annoying me.
"Sorry, can I have your number please? You are the only one I know in this new state, so it would be nice to have a friend I can talk to," He smiled and I looked at him where he had a little of a pleading look and I nodded. He sure was confident, I can say that much.
I gave him my number and waved goodbye to him, surprisingly he let me go this time.
