Chris: hey I'm here.
I checked myself out in the mirror and sprayed cologne on my neck and chest. I walked outside and saw Christian on her bike. I completely forgot about her bike and should've picked her up.
I embraced her and gave her a soft kiss on the lips. "Christian."
"Hey." She says as she places her bike in a protective chain and took her backpack from the hook.
"I'm sorry, I should've picked you up. I completely forgot that you ride a bike." I run my hand through my hair feeling guilty.
"It's okay, I needed the fresh air anyway. I am basically meeting your parents and I really needed that time to myself to think. Thank you though." She reassures me and I grab her hand and lead her towards the front door.
I knew deep down that she was panicking because of the tiny specs of sweat that had appeared on her forehead. I even noticed the little fiddling she did with her fingers as if she was trying to mentally prepare herself to meet my parents.
I kissed her forehead and opened the door as she entered and followed behind her. I watch my mom run towards Christian and bring her into a bear hug. I can tell that Christian was confused at first and then she finally wrapped her arms around my mom. "It's a pleasure to meet you Ms. Johnson, I'm Christian." She mumbled into her shoulder and my mom finally let her go and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "I know who you are!" She laughed and threw an arm around her. "Call me Sianna." She says and takes Christian away from my sight.
I breathed out a sigh of relief knowing my mother will make Christian as comfortable as possible.
I walked to the dining table and noticed Christian in deep conversation with my mom about things she likes and what she's interested in. It was so much questions that even I was unable to keep up. Christian looks so beautiful though. She came in tight jeans with no rips, I'm guessing to please my parents. My dad isn't home right now though so I guess to please my mom and a blue lettuce shirt with a little cleavage reveal in the middle. It wasn't showing much so I believe that it's fine. She wore her blue and white Jordan's and a silver cross necklace around her neck.
She looks as if she tried to dress comfortable but put effort in to make it look like she does care about her appearance. She's so beautiful. Have I told her that today? I don't think so. I take a seat next to Christian as she and my mom continued to converse and I heard one of the bedroom doors open and watched Isaac walk towards the table with confusion written on his face. He sits next to mom and grabs a plate of food unsure of what to say.
"Isaac, you know better than that. We have a guest." Mom laughs to ease the tension and Isaac looks up at Christian and smiles.
"Hi. I'm Isaac. Who are you?" He holds his hand out for her to shake like dad had taught us and she placed her hand in his and told her name. He soon realized that this was my girlfriend and he kicked me under the table.
"You move quick Rome." Isaac chuckles and bites into his fettuccine. This kid really made me sound like I had a lot of experience. Christian and I barely spoke about our exes and I really don't want to get to that topic right now.
Christian looks over at me with a raised eyebrow and I mouth "don't worry about it." And she nods and goes down on her food as if it was her first meal for the day.
I hear the front door open and I knew it was my dad entering. It has been at least two hours from since and I grabbed Christian hand under the table and rubbed her thumb to ensure her that everything will be okay. I looked in her eyes and saw the worry slowly dissipate.
"Wait." My dad stops by the counter across the dining table and looks at me. I already knew his question and got up to properly introduce Christian. "Dad, this is Christian, My girlfriend," I state and he smiles at her and gives her a handshake. "Pleasure to meet you Christian. Rome does talk about you a lot. This guy doesn't know how to keep your name out of his mouth." I watched the corner of her lips go up and I looked over at my dad to tell him to cut it out. He was telling the truth, but it was all friendly conversations that I had brought up to my dad.
"It's a pleasure to meet you senor," Christian shakes his hand and doesn't realize that she just spoke Spanish. I watch my dad ignore it though because we are able to pick at a few words in Spanish and he was quick to realize that it meant sir. Now that I think about it, she never mentioned she spoke Spanish although her accent kind of hints at it.
Isaac, my mom and my dad all took the time to ask Christian questions and all I heard Isaac asking her was if she played games or what games? I left them alone as I picked up their plates and took it to the sink and began washing the dishes as the chattering continued.
I heard a chair scrape across the floor and turned to look and watched Christian walk towards me. "Are you okay?" She asks checking up on me and I appreciate that a lot. "Yes." I kiss her lips with a small peck and turn back to the dishes. "Did you have fun? I know my mom and dad bombarded you with a lot of questions. Maybe even Isaac," I chuckle and she giggles and shakes her head.
"They did, but I didn't mind," She pushes a piece of hair behind her ear and nods.
She has been here for at least 3 hours now and I don't want to keep her here too long. She probably has things to do. So I decided to take her home.
"Here, let me take you home. I don't want your mom to worry too much," I announce and she had a disappointed look on her face as if she thinks I want her to leave. She went and gathered all of her items while hugging everyone goodbye and walked to the car as I wiped my hands and followed her. Her mom has never met me and I don't want her first impression of me to be that I can't take her daughter home on time.
I opened the door for her and went over to my side and started the car getting ready to drive off when a question popped in my mind.
"Christian? Have you told your mom about me?" I scratch my hair unsure of her response. She hesitates and then looks everywhere else but my eyes. "Uh yeah. Yeah I did. She wants to meet you soon." She says and I nod my head confused on why she hesitated. If she didn't know then that's okay, we are still new and all.
I start the car and begin driving her home. Then another question popped into my mind. "You never told me that you spoke Spanish?" I raised an eyebrow intrigued. "I thought it was obvious." She rolls her eyes sarcastically. "I mean, you have like a hint of some accent that I guessed it, but I never heard it."
"I actually don't speak it much unless I am home. My mom speaks a lot of Spanish in the house especially when she is mad." She chuckles at the thought. "What about your dad? What does he speak?" I ask and want to take back what I asked just as fast. I watched her eyes lower as if the question was too much. "I'm sorry." I blurt out and she nodded her head. "It's okay. My dad is actually dead Rome." She voiced and I decided to not question anything further.
