you and eddie had been the best of friends since you moved to hawkins in the second grade. it was a tough move, leaving behind the life you had in santa barbara, california. but eddie made it a little more bearable.

you'd stumbled into your first day of second grade in hawkins halfway through the school year. children always loved to pick on the new kid. wether it was not letting you join their game on the playground, or hogging all of the toys during play time. you even ate lunch by yourself. it was a sad sight to anyone who noticed, but no one ever did.

until that one fateful day that eddie left his friends to sit with you. you furrowed your eyebrows at him and he j shrugged.

"my names eddie."

you looked up at the boys soft smile and knew he wasn't here with any malicious intent.

"hey eddie. i'm y/n." you introduced yourself. with that, he stuck out a firm hand and you shook it.

from that point on, you and eddie's friendship only flourished. you were the only one that would listen to his loud metal music with him. he was the only one that would help you find new candles for your room. the two of you were honestly pretty opposite of each other. but you both knew that you had a mutual soft spot for each other.

the two of you never really needed anyone else, you were perfectly happy with just having each other. of course you both had your other respective friendships but none as cherished as each others.

you actually became insanely close with robin and steve after this thing happened with these russians on the fourth of july but, you swore never to speak of that night again. however, you did introduce them to eddie and the four of you became a friend group. you'd hung out on many different occasions, usually at the harrington boys house, because he had a pool in his backyard.

and tonight was no exception.

the four of you tossing off layers of clothing to reveal bathing suits underneath. as steve and robin began a conversations about their manager, keith, hating steve for some reason, you noticed eddie wandering along the edge of the pool. you turn back around to check on the other two, still engulfed in their conversation, before sneaking up behind the tattooed boy and pushing him into the water.

robin and steve snapped their head towards the sudden sound and erupted in laughter after seeing eddie head pop out of the water.

"oops." you shrugged sarcastically with a smile.

"oh real funny, y/n. now help me out." he said following a scoff, a smirk plastered on his face. he swam towards the edge of the pool and reached his hand out of the water towards you. of course, being the friend that you are, you leaned over to help the boy.

"no y/n! he's gonna-" robins warning was cut short when eddie grabbed your wrist, pulling you into the slightly chilly water as well. you heard laughter as you poked your head out of the water to meet eyes with eddie.

"you're so not getting away with that." you said playfully as the other two teens crashed into the water next to you. you began splashing at the munson boy, starting a war.

the four of you splashed at each other, soon becoming a boys versus girls situation after you a robin formed an alliance to only splash the boys. they caught on pretty quick.

you slipped under the water stealthily, or so you thought, to try and escape. you swam to the stairs of the pool and tried to creep out.

"not so fast!" eddie jumped out of the water, picking you up by the waist and throwing you over his shoulder as you let out a sequeled in shock.
