finally you and eddie had graduated. four long, miserable years over. this was supposed to be the most celebratory night of your life. the most exciting first step into your future.

but it wasn't.

eddie had been acting weird the past couple weeks. distant, cold. you tried to forget about it and brush it off. you thought maybe he was just having a bad day. every day. maybe he was just anxious. but the longer this went on, you found yourself worried that it would come to the point where he was just straight up ignoring you.

tonight it had come to that point.

you thought maybe if you'd pleased him, he would open up. maybe he'd realize how much of a dick he'd been recently and realize you didn't deserve that. but what happened was quite the opposite.

the two of you were laying on his bed after you were pretty sure you'd just given him the best sex of his life. he laid on his back, staring up at the ceiling. you laid your head on his chest, feeling it rise and fall at a quicker pace than normal.

"i need some water." he said abruptly, suddenly moving out from under you, causing your head to hit the mattress below. he quickly put his boxers back on and walked out of the room, not bothering to even look at you. that's when you realized, he hadn't even made eye contact with you the whole time you were fucking.

you'd had enough of this. you were pissed and you demanded answers. you huffed and slid your panties back on, along with your tank top that was sprawled out on the floor. you walked furiously out of eddie's room and to the kitchen area of his trailer to find the boy leaning against the kitchen sink staring out the window in front of him, his back facing you.

"eddie, what the hell is going on?" you questioned, anger lacing your voice. the boy only dropped his head at your question.

"something has been completely off with you these past two weeks, you won't even fucking look at me." you added once you realized you weren't getting an answer to your question right then. you furrowed your eyebrows at the boys lack of response. right as you opened your mouth to say something again, you were interrupted.

"i think we need to break up, y/n."

those eight words. you never wanted to hear them. you honestly never thought you would hear them. everything had been going so smooth until recently.

"what?" you questioned in disbelief. jaw hanging open, refusing to believe what you just heard.

"you heard what i said." eddie whispered, sadness in his tone. he hadn't even turned around, he was still fixed in the same position you'd found him in. you stood in shock for a moment. silence filling the air.

"i- i don't understand." you said softly, tears brimming your eyes.

"there's nothing to understand. we need to break up. i'm doing this for you." he stated in a monotone voice, no sign of emotion.

"don't say that. don't fucking put this on me. what the hell is going on? what changed in these two weeks, please fucking enlighten me!" you raised your voice, the tears you were holding back threatening to fall out. he just shook his head.

"you won't understand, y/n. please just make this easy for the both of us." he choked out, sounding like he was about to cry too. he still refused to turn around and look at you. he knew that the second he did, he wouldn't be able to hold back his emotions.

"easy? what the fuck about any of this is easy? you won't even look at me, eddie! turn around, say this to my fucking face!" at this point you were furious. you were yelling. you couldn't understand why he was saying these things.
