everyone thought that the hellfire club was a satanic cult. that they worshipped the devil and held rituals or some bullshit like that. but you knew that wasn't true.you'd met eddie in your history class at the beginning of the school year. he was one of the nicest people you'd ever met, definitely no where near satanic.
sure, he was different. he had long hair, wore denim on denim, loved metal music. but that didn't change how sweet he was, especially to you.
you and eddie would converse in class a lot. mostly because he was the only person you even remotely knew in that class. as the year went on, you began to find the metalhead quite charming. he was funny, caring, and genuinely a good person. you hated that everyone had this other perception of him, but he'd told you he'd given up on trying to change it a while ago.
you actually hung out with the boy quite a few times. working on a project for history, or you just helping him with the homework. he always tried his hand at flirting with you but most of the time you just laughed it off. you knew that nothing could ever happen between the two of you. it would cause complete chaos.
your family was one of the more notable ones in hawkins. you were a cheerleader with an insane gpa, your brother was one of the stars of the basketball team, and your parents were high-class citizens of hawkins. always very involved in the community and such.
one night when you'd come home from helping eddie with the history reading you were assigned, you noticed your parents waiting on the doorstep for you. they were repulsed at the thought of you being in that 'satanic freaks' trailer and banned you from seeing him ever again, as it would put your family's life's work and reputations at risk. they forced your brother to keep a close eye on you at school to make sure you weren't interacting with him.
from that point on, you'd been avoiding eddie. you were genuinely scared of your parents. you stopped talking to him in history, avoided eye contact with him in the halls or cafeteria. you were sure he'd noticed. you'd seen some of his friends stealing looks at you, trying to figure you out. you hated to do this to him, he wasn't like everyone made him out to be, but your parents would never understand.
hawkins would never understand.
today had marked two weeks of you dodging eddie. he was determined to find out what the hell was going on with you. it seemed like you were just starting to become friends. not to mention the fact that he had some obvious feelings for you. he never really tried to hide it.
you were at your locker, the hallways empty as everyone else had already gotten to class. you were planning on skipping history today though. you couldn't face eddie again, you were almost positive he was going to say something at any moment now. you knew you wouldn't be able to get away with this for long.
and you were right.
"y/n." a voice behind you caused you to jump.
you turned around to see eddie, clad in his usual hellfire shirt and jean jacket, layered over a leather one.
"jesus christ." you breathed out, placing a hand over your heart.
"sorry, i didn't mean to scare you," he apologized taking a step closer, "not going to history?"
"um, not today. i'm not feeling well." you responded, dropping eye contact and shifting your gaze to the floor.
"alright, you can't fool me that easily, what's going on? you avoiding me or something?" he asked, quickly recognizing your sad excuse of a lie.
"no, eddie. i just-" you were cut off by the sound of footsteps coming around the corner. wether it was someone you knew or a teacher, you didn't want to risk getting caught skipping class or talking to eddie munson.
