Athena's Human Mate

Chapter 12

Today is the day, the day Athena and Artemis embark on a scary and exciting new life. A life she never thought of having. Events unfolding in ways no one would anticipate. She only hoped today's revelations would go her way. There were many ways this could go sideways in an instant. Praying to the Moon Goddess, she prepared to set in motion the biggest upset in the werewolf world in recent history.

She waited to get the text from Gramps that his group was at the border. When her phone beeped, Athena concentrated to send out a mind link to very specific she-wolves. Artemis, at the same time, sent her own message directly to the wolf spirits of the same she-wolves.

I need you to meet me in the school gym in twenty minutes. Pack a bag with your most important treasures. Do not tell anyone where you're going. I have life changing information to share.

My fellow wolves, our humans are in danger. We will explain when everyone gathers at the gym. Hurry.

Unknown to Athena, Artemis also sent out a message to the mothers of the abused she-wolves. Athena didn't want to expose them to shame and ridicule by telling others not directly involved with the plan. Artemis, however, disagreed.

Dearest mothers, as I speak to you, your daughter is packing a bag to bring to the school gym. Help her and come with her. Athena has disturbing information about Alpha Ryan and our young she-wolves. Trust in me and in Athena, we will protect you. I command you to keep this communication to yourself, do not tell your mate or Alpha Ryan. The safety of all our children rest with you.

Athena paced up and down in front of the basketball hoop on the far side of the gym. Slowly the room filled with she-wolves, some whispering to friends, some with scared expressions and others only looked curious. Her breath stopped a moment when some she-wolves entered that she didn't invite.

Don't worry, I invited them.

Why? They will tell Ryan!

Have some faith in me! I was told to do this.

What? By whom?

The Moon Goddess sent me a dream, she approves of what we are doing but deemed it necessary to tell the mothers as well as the unmated wolves.

Oh, well, I'm glad you listened to her.

"First, thank you for getting here in such a short time." Athena cleared her throat, which felt like a desert. "Artemis and I called you here under dire circumstances. Our pack, the prestigious Crescent Moon, the place we call home, where all wolves should feel safe, has betrayed us."

Gasps and murmmers broke out within the assembly. "My father," Athena coughed out, "has not only been complacent about threats inside our pack, he has," she looked down and a hand touched her shoulder, giving comfort and encouragement to continue.

"Alpha Ryan has conspired with the enemy to hurt us." She felt the change in the atmosphere, those who have suffered assault understood what Athena was talking about and why they were brought together.

Taking a deep breath, Athena revealed the secrets of many. "Thomas Black, second son of our Beta, has sexually assaulted she-wolves the past four years." She hurried to get the rest out among shouts of denial. "The she-wolves who suffered at his hands were sixteen or seventeen at the time of the attack. I estimate he assaulted thirty she-wolves during this time, and Alpha Ryan knew about each and every one."
