Dedicated to Julie BlanchardSpeechless, Athena stood in the doorway to her office robbed of every word that had been on her tongue. Roman, her human mate, her Luna, had his arm around the neck of the rogue. The furniture was knocked over, including the chairs. Thankfully the cot and stuff were moved to their apartment.
"Don't hurt him," Emma cried but before Athena could intervene on Roman's behalf, the next words shocked her more. "Luna, let him go, Kyle, come on, submit, this is crazy."
"What the hell is going on?" Athena yelled.
Roman looked up at her, grinning like a cheshire cat. "Hey sweetheart, just teaching the pup here a lesson. I'm not hurting him Emma, unless you count his bruised ego." With a hand on Kyle's back, he tightened his hold. "What do you say Kyle?"
The rogue, who Athena assumed was Kyle, huffed and whined out, "don't make me say it in front of them."
"You brought this on yourself. How many times is this Emma?"
"This will make six times you've got him to surrender Luna. Give up Kyle, you're not going to win against him."
"He's human!" He cried, "I shouldn't be beat by a wimpy human!" Two seconds later he recanted when Roman increased the pressure. "Ok, ok, ok, you're not wimpy! I take it back! Fine, you win! I give up! Luna Roman is a badass beast not to be messed with."
"Go on, I'm listening."
Kyle dropped his head in defeat. "A chihuahua is scarier than me."
"Is there more?" taunted Roman.
"I squeal like a baby girl pup."
Athena couldn't help the giggle that escaped her. "That's better," Roman got off Kyle, holding out his hand to shake. He then walked over to Athena and kissed her.
"Alpha, this is Kyle, he's, um, he's my mate," Emma said shyly.
Athena looked from one to another, "this is your mate?" Emma nodded, taking Kyle's hand.
"We need to make Kyle a pack member, he's accepted Emma and wants to stay." Roman said while wrapping his arms around Athena.
"Ew, get off me, you're all sweaty!" She tried to push him but her hand slid across his chest instead.
"You like me sweaty," he whispered in her ear, but the other couple heard him and snickered. "Let's give them a minute alone while we shower." He took her hand and started pulling her out of the office.
"We? I don't stink."
"Maybe not yet. Oh, you two fix that room." He called over his shoulder.
Some of the girls were still out front, curious to the outcome between Luna and the rogue. "It's all settled, go back to your duties. Kyle will be joining us soon." Roman said and everyone nodded then dispersed.
"I heard you were fighting with him."
"Not really, the guy knows nothing about how to fight, he had zero chance to beat me." Roman said as they walked to their apartment.
"He's a werewolf! They also said he shifted, you could've got hurt. Why didn't you call me?"
"Why did you have the pack link blocked? You would've known a rogue was on the grounds."
"Ugh, they talk too much, I figured if you needed help then you'd send me a message."
"I didn't have time, I went to deal with it." He looked at her and could tell she was upset. "Sweetheart, you've got to trust that I can take care of myself. I'm not some useless person you brought home." He wiped a tear from her eye.
