His words startled him, he was going to say a member but it came out Luna.
"What? I haven't had a chance to tell you what it really means. I don't want to rush you, it's ok to take time to get used to it. You just got here."
"I know, but it feels right. Can you do it tonight? Do you need time to prepare?"
"No, but I don't want to do it tonight. Please, think about it more. We can do the member ceremony tonight if you want." She knew there was information he needed to make a proper decision but couldn't think of what. He blindsided her with his request, she didn't expect him to join today, let alone want to be anointed Luna.
"This pack needs me, you need me, and I think I need them too. I'm a grown man who is making his own choice. Make me your Luna." His words came out strong, no hesitation or waver.
"Are you totally sure? You can't take it back and it's a big decision. I don't want you to regret it later. This will be for the rest of your life Roman. I don't think you've thought this through."
"Yes I have. Why put it off? I'm your mate, I'm this packs Luna, a day or two, even a week isn't going to change that. Let's do it now."
"I'd prefer you learn more first but if you're positive this is what you want I'll perform it." She had major misgivings, but in the end it is his choice.
Roman picked her up by her waist and spun them around, making her grasp his shoulders as she laughed. "Thank you sweetheart." He lowered her back to the ground and kissed her. "What do you need me to do?"
"Um, I need the silver knife and that's it." She climbed on a chair, Roman holding onto her for balance then yelled in her Alpha voice, "EVERYONE TO THE CLEARING!"
"What's going on Alpha?"
"Emma, I need the silver knife I used when we started Starlight. I forgot what I did with it." Athena jumped off the chair on front of her.
"I'll go get it, it's in the kitchen."
To Roman Athena said, "I'm going to link everyone what's going on."
Attention Starlight!! Roman has decided to accept being your Luna! We will perform the ceremony in fifteen minutes!
She quickly cut the link, not wanting to get overwhelmed with questions or congratulation. "Alpha, let us set up a platform so eveyone can watch."
"Thank you Hunter, you've been a huge help." Athena and Roman stood embracing off to the side while several of the guys brought out some plywood planks. The plywood was placed on concrete blocks two sheets thick to hold their weight.
Once the makeshift stage was done and Emma returned with the knife, Roman stepped onto it then helped Athena up. "I've only read about this ceremony, please be patient with me. This will be different than when you all joined Starlight." She said to the crowd.
She took his hand and said loud and clear, "Roman Alexander Phoenix, do you swear to uphold all werewolf laws, including the vow of secrecy?"
"Yes."
"Do you pledge your loyalty to the fellow members of Stalight Moon Pack and to me, Alpha Athena Calliope Knight?"
"Yes."
"Do you promise, as the Luna of Stalight Moon Pack, to protect every member?"
"Yes."
"Do you, Roman Alexander Phoenix, accept the full responsibilities of Luna to Starlight Moon Pack?"
