Athena pulled into the driveway, grateful today was a school day for the younger ones, even if they only had fifteen that went. Everyone who is seventeen and older already graduated. No one seemed to notice her until she parked in her spot, then several members crowded around her."Alpha, you're back!"
"Welcome home, Alpha!"
"Any trouble out there, Alpha?"
They bombarded her with questions and she laughed as Layla jumped into her arms saying, "I missed you Alpha!"
Little Avery attached herself to Athena's leg, hanging on with an iron grip as Athena attempted to walk to the office. "Alright everyone, pack meeting in ten minutes!" She shouted then sent out a pack message, knowing the kids would hear even though they couldn't come back.
Hunter Moore, Eric and Brandy's nineteen-year-old son came running through the tent city, carrying a big wooden box which he placed in the grass near the door to the office. "Here Alpha, you can stand on this. Once everyone can move in, we'll make a stage for you."
Athena was touched, she didn't expect to make many speeches. "Thank you Hunter, you've warmed my heart." He smiled wide then bowed his head in respect.
What are you planning on telling them?
The truth, with some things left out. Like how you marked Roman without his consent. Why did you do that again?
I agree we should leave that out. Athena grunted in her head.
That's what I thought.
She stood on the box, it wasn't super tall, but I gave her enough height to see all her pack gathered in a circle around her. "Thank you for assembling quickly. First, I would like to apologize for my recent absence, it was unexpected then unavoidable. I found my mate."
"That's wonderful Alpha!"
"Congratulations!"
"Where is he?"
"That's why she smells different."
"How exciting!"
She waited until they settled down before continuing. "His name is Roman Phoenix and he's a human." She paused again, shocked gasps coming from almost everyone. "I've told him about us being werewolves and a little about our pack. There's still a lot he doesn't know so you'll have to be patient with him."
"Will he join the pack?" Anthony asked.
"I intend to make him a part of the pack, but we haven't discussed it yet."
"Will he be our Luna? Is there any other human male Lunas?" Tara injected, curiosity the only emotion coming through her voice.
"I hope he will accept being Luna, again, it's not something we've talked about. I do expect him to be given the respect due a Luna, regardless if he takes on the role officially." Murmmers broke out, agreeing that they would treat him accordingly.
"We will be moving his stuff to the pack later today. I wanted to let everyone know first, so no one will be surprised that he's a human. I'm thinking we should have a big BBQ to celebrate." Cheers went up, wolves like to party. "Any volunteers to be in charge of that? I've got to head back into town soon, this is the first time we've been separated."
"Leave the food up to us, Alpha, the girls and I will get everything we need." Makenzie, the only she-wolf to leave a mate behind said. She's taken on the job of head cook for the pack.
