After Karl and Sapnap arrived back at his room, Sapnap placed the big suitcase on Karl's bed. He then unzipped it and Karl quickly ran over to him.
"Hey!" He mumbled, standing between the suitcase and Sap.
"What?"
"That's private!"
"Well I'm going to need to open it if I'm going to help you unpack aren't I?" The black haired boy slightly chuckled, for the first time. It was honestly quite cute, or maybe that's just Karl's emotions clouding his judgment. Karl only stared at the ground, unaware of how to respond.

"What could be so bad you don't want a total stranger to see?" Sapnap asked, trying to peer over his head but Karl gently pushed him back.
"It's-it's my private stuff okay! Can you just leave and I'll unpack?"
"No, I can not."
"What- why?!" Karl growled, but a apart of him wanted Sapnap to say it's because he wanted to spend more time with him. After all, he did need some friends in this place if he was going to be forced to live here for a few years.
"Because the longer I stay with you, the more Ms Turner will forgive me. I'm sorry but I'm not going anywhere, I don't want another detention." He folded his arms and stared into Karl's ocean eyes.

Karl huffed, "well you're not helping me unpack."
"Fine. Do it yourself. I'll just sit in the corner for an hour or so then I can go. I cant let her see me leaving so soon on the cameras." He said, making Karl relax a bit, he did understand where Sapnap was coming from. But it still hurt knowing he was technically being used.

"Come on Jacobs, don't make this difficult." Sapnap groaned.
"How do you know my surname?" But Sapnap only shrugged with a grin. Karl sighed and returned the grin, "Okay, sit there and shut up while I unpack." To which Sapnap nodded.

Karl begun unpacking his clothes and essentials as Sapnap silently watched. Karl couldn't stand the quietness, so he decided to break it.
"So- why did you have detention in the first place?" He asked, turning to face Sapnap. The other boy glanced at him for a few seconds before looking at the floor as he begun speaking.
"Well; I set the school cafeteria on fire." He said, calmly. A little too calmly.

"What?"
"Okay that's an exaggeration. I started a fire in a bin, in the cafeteria. The place is fine by now, it just burnt the bin and the floor. Nobody was hurt or anything but I've had detention everyday for over a week. I'm guessing today is the day it ends." Sapnap explains with a shrug.
"Why-why did you do that?"
"You act as if you're not just as bad as me. You've clearly done something wrong to end up here."

Karl frowned, and Sapnap looked up to notice. The brunette didn't want to talk about why he was here, as it wasn't his fault. But he did need the friends, and Sapnap seemed alright. Except for the whole, burning down the cafeteria thing.

"I-I didn't do anything wrong." Karl begun, making Sapnap look up at him with confusion.
"Then why-"
"Because I'm gay."

Sapnap seemed shocked, which only made Karl feel worse. And that's when Karl turned back around and continued unpacking. Sapnap didn't speak for a few more moments, he just sat there, in the corner in silence. He did want to say something, he wanted to tell Karl that he didn't care about his sexual orientation. And that that's no reason to be in a place like this. So he did.

"Karl." He begun, but the boy didn't turn back around, he just froze. "There's nothing wrong with being gay, I'm really sorry that you're here."
"I-I know. I will never forgive my parents for leaving me here."

Sapnap stood up and walked over to Karl; placing a hand on his arm.
"I hope me being your friend can make your stay here better." He mumbled, before removing his hand and walking out the door, closing it behind him.

Karl didn't know what to say. He didn't know what to feel. He stared at his bare arm where Sapnap's hand had been, and he placed a hand on it, then smiled.

He had made a friend.
