When he is scared of your bodybuilder brother when he first visits your house.
—
I had already invited my boyfriend over to our home, finally. My parents welcomed him with open arms. It's been a year since we've been together, and although both of our families tried to tear us apart in the beginning, they've finally come around.
Our journey hasn't been easy.
Jimin and I were stuck in a long-distance relationship for months. I was studying abroad in the U.S., and our only connection was through late-night calls and scattered messages. We missed each other terribly, but we held on. The biggest hurdle, though, was his parents. They didn't approve of me. They constantly compared me to Jimin's ex, saying I wasn't "good enough." I nearly gave up.
But my parents knew how much I loved him. And I think eventually his parents saw it too. When I got the call that they had finally accepted our relationship, I cried. I was so happy. It felt like the weight of the world had been lifted.
Now, Jimin's coming over to visit for the first time. My entire family is home, and I'm helping mom in the kitchen when I hear the doorbell.
"Oppa, could you please get the door? I'm helping mom!" I called out. "Yeah, yeah, I got it," my brother groaned from the sofa.
He stood up, towering as always. Seriously, if he had a girlfriend, she'd be so lucky, he's handsome, tall, and totally jacked. My brother, Kim Namjoon, is basically a walking tank.
"Y/N, it's Jimin," he called back. My eyes widened. He's here!
"Jimin! Come in—" I paused mid-sentence when I saw them standing side by side. Jimin looked... small. Like adorably small. Especially next to Namjoon.
"Jimin, meet my brother, Kim Namjoon." I smiled brightly.
Jimin gave a nervous little wave. "H-Hi," he stammered.
Namjoon raised an eyebrow. "You okay there?" he asked in his deep, manly voice. "I-I... yes," Jimin squeaked. I nudged Jimin playfully. "Are you scared of my brother? This is his first time meeting you too, you know."
"You didn't tell me your brother was this big," Jimin whispered. I laughed. "He's not that big."
"Mom, Jimin's here!" I called out. "Jimin?" she called back, then rushed over with a bright smile, wrapping him in a warm hug. "Oh, Jimin! It's so nice to finally see you."
"Where's Mr. Kim?" Jimin asked politely. "He's out of town," Mom replied, patting his arm. "And didn't I tell you? Stop calling us Mr. and Mrs. Kim. Just call us Mom and Dad, okay? Don't be shy."
Jimin chuckled nervously. "Okay... Mom." He glanced toward Namjoon again. "And what about him?"
"You can call him Joon. Or hyung," I said with a wink. "Don't worry. He doesn't bite." Jimin gave a sheepish smile. "Sorry I didn't bring anything. I was kind of in a rush."
"It's fine, Jimin," I said, smiling reassuringly.
A moment later, my brother stood beside us, holding a plate. "You want some?" he asked in that deep, intimidating voice, offering Jimin a piece of food.
Jimin froze, blinking at the food in Namjoon's massive hand. It looked tiny, like a crumb on a leaf.
"Take it," I whispered, nudging him. He slowly reached out and took it, his hand shaking slightly. "Thanks... hyung," he said.
I could tell Jimin was mentally preparing himself to survive the rest of the evening. He turned to me with a tight-lipped smile and gave me a thumbs-up.
"I think I'm gonna be dealing with your brother now," he muttered. I giggled. "Good luck."
