When he brought an engagement ring to surprise you after a very long time.

I sighed, slumping back into my chair after finishing a mountain of paperwork my boss dumped on me. I was late to work today just a little but everything felt off. My head throbbed, and a wave of dizziness washed over me. I didn't know what was happening to me.

Maybe I was just tired... or maybe it was something else.

My husband must be waiting for me by now. He hates waiting I know that but I couldn't help it today. Still, I didn't want to keep him waiting again. He's always so patient, so sweet...

Too good for someone like me.

As I packed up my things, I heard a voice behind me. "Go home safely, Y/N." Jungkook? I turned around, confused... but there was no one there. The office was empty.

Weird. I must be more tired than I thought. Work had really worn me out. I shook my head, trying to clear the fog as I stepped outside, unlocked my car, and climbed in.

He won't be mad, I reminded myself. It's just me overthinking again. But deep down, I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling pressing on my chest.

JIMIN's POV

I had just gotten home, holding the small velvet box in my hand, the engagement ring I had finally bought for her.

It had taken me so long to choose the perfect one. I wanted it to be right. She deserved the best.

She should be getting off work about now... or maybe she's already driving home. I couldn't wait to see her. I had everything planned.

With a nervous energy in my chest, I paced into the living room and turned on the TV to distract myself. The news came on.

A breaking story.

"A serious car accident just occurred on the highway near downtown—" the reporter began.

My heart skipped a beat.

Then it stopped.

The camera panned to the scene of the wreckage. I recognized the car immediately.

Her car.

The one I gave her for her birthday.

No.

No. No. No.

My breath caught in my throat as my vision blurred with tears. My knees gave out, and I sank to the floor, clutching the ring box.

Please, no.

But then—

The front door creaked open.

I turned toward the sound, barely daring to believe it.

And there she was.

Y/N stood in the doorway, a soft smile on her face, the way she always smiled when she came home.

"Y/N..." I whispered.

The tears fell harder now, but for a different reason. Relief, disbelief, hope—

"Is it really you?"

She stepped closer, her eyes dropping to the box in my hands. The engagement ring glimmered under the soft light.

"If I were alive..." she said softly, eyes lingering on the ring, "I'd say yes."

Then she smiled one last time...

...and disappeared.
