One time thing

We stayed there for a bit just talking about random things.

He eventually asked me about my taste in music and was crushed to hear my answer.

"They aren't bad!"

"I'm not saying The Cure is bad I'm just...it's an interesting taste is all.."

"Oh excuse me of course you wouldn't like it. All you listen to is ear-bleeding rock and metal," I say defensively.

He looks at me like I've offended him.

I couldn't help but smile, wanting to laugh at him and he breaks into a smile too.

I notice his eyes draw to my lips again. This is the second time.

Only it lasts longer and he doesn't turn away but to our luck, someone shouts catching our attention.

"Hey! What are you guys doing up there!?" Says what looks to be a cop.

"Looks like the funs over," Eddie says turning to me with a playful pout.

"Come on," I say pulling him up.

We walk down carefully and when we reach the bottom the cop is just waiting for us.

"Officer," Eddie says with a charming smile.

"Are you aware that the stadium is closed? No one is allowed in here."

"Right..it's just we saw what looked like a baby kitten on the uh-the bleachers," Eddie goes looking at me for support.

"R-Right. I Um made him come in with me because I was just worried for the animal."

The cop just looked at us with narrowed eyes.

"And where's the kitten?" He asks.

We both stay silent for a moment.

"Well it uh turned out to be a possum that looked small from afar," I go spinning the dumbest excuse. "When we got close it got scared and started crawling away."

He just stayed quiet for a moment looking at us like he was deciding whether to arrest us or just let us go.

"Well you both are trespassing so I'm going to have to call this in," he says grabbing his walkie and looking down to fish it out.

I look at Eddie for any idea as to what to do.

He was tossing his neck to the side. I nodded and we both made a run for it.

"Hey!"

We don't look back as we run to the gate.

He doesn't hesitate the lift me by the waist and let me go first.

I jump down quickly and he tells me to go to the van.

I felt a pain in my ankle from the jump but I powered through it and ran anyway.

"Shit," I say before turning to see Eddie catching up behind me.

I get to it and I hear a little sound as it unlocks.

I open the door and hop in.

He comes by swiftly but not much in a hurry.

He closes the door looking ahead to see no one.

"I think he gave up," I say out of breath.

I look at him and we both burst into laughter.

His smile is so contagious.

"Shit. Let's get out of here," he says out of breath starting up the van and driving away.

He asked me if I wanted to go back to school and I didn't want to but it is Thursday and I'm working at the video store today with Steve.
