Surprise! You guys have been showing so much love I decided to do a double update today 😁.
Can you guess who's POV you're reading from based on the first little paragraph?
Ima give you a hint...its not Mary 🫣
Enjoy!*
He's staring daggers at me. At least...that's what it seems.
I'm bouncing my leg anxiously and toying with my rings waiting for this silence to break.I don't know what to say to him. I want to be cool about it but he seems to be the only person that cares for Mary like a parent so talking like he's just a friend probably wouldn't be the smartest approach.
He finally cracks a smile as we hear Mary close the door to her room.
He sits back on the couch.
"You know, these past months...Mary has been coming home with the biggest smiles ever. She's been very happy..for the most part."
Yeah, when your moms not treating her like a piece of shit.
I just nod keeping a straight face.
"I didn't know why until I started seeing someone following her behind like a lost puppy."
I widen my eyes imperceptibly before going back to my straight face.
Did not expect that. What can I say though...she does something to me.
"I don't mind you being with her. So long as she's happy and I can see you make her happy. But-" he says sitting up.
Here comes the threat.
"Mary is-" he stops and thinks. "She's a very complicated person. She's got a complicated life."
I sit up this time.
Is he talking about her mother? Because I'm well aware of the bitch she is.
"I just want you to know that her life can be..a bit much. You shouldn't invest your time if you're going to leave her hanging," he tells me and I look at him confused.
I shake my head.
"I would never. I care about Mary. A lot. No amount of craziness can stop me from seeing her," I say with a smile.
He pulls one too.
It gets quiet for a moment until he speaks up.
"Yeah Mary can be..crazy."
"Tell me about it," I say with a smirk thinking of how all over the place she can be. I love that about her though. We're both just a chaotic mess sometimes.
"Yeah she wasn't much for friends back in California but she managed to get herself into some trouble regardless by herself."
I widen my eyes in amusement.
"Really?" I ask.
"Oh yeah," he says nodding. He looks behind him as if to make sure she wasn't near.
"On our father's last birthday, we both insisted on doing something different from the regular dinners we have. So Mary suggests going to a karaoke bar."
My smile grows.
Karaoke?
"Let's just say she managed to sneak in a flask with vodka."
I cringe at that.
She drank straight vodka?
"My mother was furious of course but my father was very much amused because as she got tipsy, she had it in herself to go up on stage and sing a very drunken song to my dad," he had a small smile thinking back on it as he looks at his hands now.
