Watergate

It was late by the time Dustin started telling us we were getting close.

The sun has gone down and it was dark. I wondered if Zach told the police I went missing, or if he's gone out to look for me.

I feel bad but I wasn't going to let him hold me back.

I nearly tripped twice now as I watched Dustin ahead of us, all while he pushed through a bunch of shrubs and trees.

We caught up pretty quickly. Eddie is ahead of me and that's when we see Dustin rushing away.

"Somethings happening," he whispers as he walks faster.

"Dustin? Dustin, can you slow down?" Eddie calls out.

We follow behind swiftly and I watch Dustin as he's walking toward a lake.

"I think we're getting close," he says looking back at us without paying attention.

"Dustin," I call out pointing ahead.

"I think we're getting close," he says again ignoring me as he turns around.

Eddie thankfully catches up and holds him back.

"Watch your step, big guy," he goes patting him on the shoulder as Dustin stops right before he was about to walk into the water.

"Oh, man," Steve goes looking out into the lake.

Great.

"You gotta be shitting me," he adds.

"Yeah, I thought these woods were familiar," Eddie sighs.

"Lovers lake," Robin states.

"This is confounding," Dustin goes.

"There's a gate in lovers lake?" Max asks.

"Whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening. Maybe vecnas the same way," she says looking at both Dustin and Steve.

Demogorgon? At this point...I don't care. I'm gonna try to stop wondering because there's too much I clearly don't know and wondering is frying my brain.

"Yeah, only one way to find out," Steve says.

"So how do we get..uh, over there?" Robin asks.

"Well...," Eddie speaks up. "Luckily we're not too far from where I left the old boat," he says.

We all look at each other and he tosses his head telling us to follow.

We walk for a bit. Following him quickly until we make it to this little spot where we see something big under a very familiar tarp.

He walks over and we follow as he pulls the tarp off revealing the boat.

"All right, come on," Steve says grabbing a hold of the boat.

Eddie and Nancy help him push it into the lake.

"Easy, I...I said easy, man," Steve tells Eddie as they struggle to push it into the water.

"My bad, man."

Robin holds onto Eddie and Steve's heads as she climbs into the boat.

"Thank you," she says softly.

"Yeah, that works too," Steve responds annoyed.

Eddie climbs in and then Nancy.

Dustin's behind me and they all look at me.

Eddie's holding his hand out for me and I look at the boat unsure.

Do I really wanna do this? Put my life in danger?
