"When I got to the shore, I tried to call you guys but-uh...," he goes explaining what happened as he finished the water he has left in his water flask.

I'm sitting next to him on the ground as everyone else stands around listening.

"Didn't have my walkie on me. So, uh, I did the thing that I do now, apparently," he says with a big old smile as he wipes the remaining water from his lips. "I ran," he said with a little laugh.

I hate that he feels so bad about it. I would say something but I know it's probably not the time.

"Do you know what time this was? The attack?" Nancy asks.

"Yeah, no, I..I know exactly what time it was," he says as he starts to take off his watch.

I watched in confusion.

He lifts it to them in annoyance.

"Soaked," he says tossing it to her.

She catches it and looks at the time.

"9:27."

"Same time our flashlights went kablooey," Robin states.

"Which means what..exactly?" Steve asks.

"That, that surge of energy was Vecna attacking Patrick," she explains.

Oh great. The monster thing.

She tosses it back to Eddie.

"Well..we're one step closer. We know how Vecna attacks," Robin says hopefully.

"And where he attacks from," Lucas adds.

"So now we just need to sneak into his lair in the upside down and drive a stake through his heart," Max says.

I laugh a bit making them all look at me.

I don't mean to sound like an asshole but I just think it's crazy that not only is this shit real but how they are so confident in their ability to stop it.

I look away and Robin continues.

"If he even has a heart."

"A stake? Is he like a vamp—Is he a vampire?" Steve asks with widened eyes.

"Vampires don't do what he did to Patrick," I say and they all look at me.

"It was a metaphor," Max sighs.

"A bullet should work on him, right?" Eddie asks.

I give him a wild look.

He looks at me and whispers 'what?'

"I say we chop his head off," Lucas suggests.

"I'd say all of the above, but we can't do any of that until we find a way into the upside down," Nancy says.

"We need El to get her powers back," Max goes.

"Everyone was like waaay easier. See we had this girl, she had superpowers," Steve goes on to mention again and I run my hand over my face in frustration.

How are they going to stop this thing? They're crazy!

"Superpowers," Eddie pipes up. "Yeah, you mentioned her. Hey, uh...Hendersons not-uh...cursed, is he?"

He goes making us look at Dustin staring at his compass as he paces back and forth frantically.

"Cursed? No..no, no. He's fine," Steve says. "Mental? Absolutely," he adds nonchalantly.

"Boom!" Dustin screams catching all of our attention. "Bada..bada..boom," he says pointing at Steve.

Steve shakes his head in annoyance.
