"Shhhh," he shushes me as I try my best not to laugh. "Watch," he goes.We pull the curtain open a bit and look down at everyone and the performers.
"Woah."
I can feel him smiling at me.
After our cop incident, Eddie and I didn't do anything for a week. It was Thanksgiving break so he didn't really talk to me much but then out of the blue, he invited me this Friday to go somewhere this Sunday. He didn't tell me where but I agreed.
It was late when he came to pick me up but my mother was just resting. I made sure to clean the house before leaving. She won't normally bother me unless there's things to do but I made sure everything was spotless. By the time she wakes up, it'll be around nine-thirty and she won't bother me. She likes to go outside alone around that time to smoke a cigarette before cooking or just going back to bed.
She doesn't do much when she's home. I do encourage her to go out though. She tells me she doesn't have time to go out acting like she doesn't have responsibilities.
I did everything though and when he picked me up he was playing his music in his van a bit loudly but I was thankful I told him to meet me about a couple of blocks away.
I told him I didn't want to share where I live just yet and he was fine with that so I skated to where he was and nearly gave him a heart attack when I knocked.
"Jesus," he said with a cigarette in his mouth. Nearly dropping in on his lap.
"Sorry," I said laughing.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Somewhere fun," is all he said before blasting his music again and driving off.
I've gotten pretty used to his driving now. Although I still grip the handle when I'm in it. I've noticed he's not as reckless when I'm in the car though. He's going from a menace to society to that guy that really needs to practice driving.
When we got there he parked at this random parking lot and we walked for about five minutes to this building but we got in through the back.
"What are we doing?" I ask.
"Shh."
He guides me by holding onto my arm.
We walk into the back of this building and there's a lot of talking. He looks around and we head down the empty hall and head into a staircase and we go upstairs.
We went pretty far up and every time he would open a door and look out before saying "this isn't it".
We got finally went up one more floor after scouring a bunch of halls and doors and I hear him curse as he's looking through a door.
"Shit," he closes the door quickly.
"Come on."
He pulls me along as we start sprinting down the hall and making our way upstairs.
I look down the hall at a lady who's watching us.
"Hey!"
I rush quickly and his grip is pretty strong on me and somewhat uncomfortable. Without second-guessing, I pull my arm up and slide my hand into his and he looks down at me quickly before interlocking it with mine.
We're holding hands now running up the stairs as we hear footsteps behind us.
"Come on," he says as he opens one of the doors and we rush out.
I look out at this big room. Looks like someone is going to perform. He brought me to a show. I've never been to a concert or anything so this is exciting.
