I get up quickly.

I don't miss the noises coming from the hall down where my mom and Zach's room is.

I look at him and I can hear footsteps.

"Shit- come here," I tell him quickly pulling him with me.

I open my closet door and push him in.

"I'm so sorry. Don't say a word," I tell him as he looks at me worried.

I close the door as quickly and quietly as I can and then rush to my bed.

I sit down and grab my notebook quickly trying to look normal and that's when my mom storms in.

I only have a lightbulb on that shines through half the room so I can see a bit of her face but she looks..tired?

"Where were you?" She asks in a deep tone.

I can tell she's angry.

"With Max. I told you...I was helping her study."

She nods and just stares at me for a second.

"Really? All day? Do you realize what time it is?"

My hands are clammy and I'm fighting the urge to bounce my leg. It's how calm her voice is that really scares me right now. I know where that leads to and I'm not normally this nervous but I don't exactly like that Eddie's listening. This isn't how I wanted him to find out.

"Well-I also hung out with her.."

She looks at me for a while again.

"Marilyn...do not lie to me."

"I-I'm not."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Then why is it that when I called her house she told me she had no idea what the hell I was talking about and that you weren't with her?" She says now with the biggest frown ever. An angry one.

My stomach feels like it's in a knot and I could throw up.

"How do you know her number? I didn't give it to you?" I question.

She laughs.

"Marilyn now I know you're not this clueless. I'm sure you know what a phone book is right?"

Shit.

"Right?!" She says raising her voice startling me.

"Yes."

"Then why don't you tell me where the hell you were and with who?"

"I.."

She just laughs and shakes her head running her hand over her face and letting go of the door handle.

That's when I notice she has a bottle in her hand.
