A bike ride

At some point, we were able to hear Dustin tell us to use Holly's light-up toy.

No one really knew what he meant but Nancy.

We all rushed upstairs as she went to find it and we all kneeled down. Crowded around the bed waiting for Dustin to talk to us.

We waited and waited and nothing happened for a bit.

"Come on.." Steve whispers.

After a moment we finally hear him say something and the toy lights up.

Nancy runs her fingers over its sparkly substance and it lights up even more.

We can hear laughs and shrieking.

We all smile and I catch Eddie looking at me.

"We're gonna unplug it, stand by!" We hear dusting shout into the void.

The light just starts to fade and we hear him shout at us to try and spell something on it.

"Ok-" Nancy goes sputtering gibberish as she tries to think of something.

She spells 'hi'.

We just hear his shouts of happiness before he says it worked.

Everyone says 'yes' simultaneously in excitement.

"Hi!" Eddie shouts back as we all smile.

Nancy quickly starts to spell something else.

"S."

"T."

"U."

"C."

"K."

Stuck.

We all just nod along agreeing in a hopeful manner.

"You can't get back through Watergate?" His voice says coming through.

"What the hell is watergate?" Steve asks.

"Cause it's in water and it's a gate," Robin clarifies.

"Oh."

"That's cute," Eddie says.

Nancy proceeds to say 'no' and spell out that it's guarded.

We all agree and I start feeling a bit hopeful that we'll make it out of here alive.

I probably have the most genuine smile on my face right now in a long time.

"Ok-We think we have a theory that can help with that," he states.

Thank god.

"Genius child," Robin says.

For once I agree.

No offense to Dustin.

"We think watergate isn't the only gate," he says and we all look at each other. "That there's a gate in every murder site."

"Does..anybody understands what he's talking about?" Nancy asks and we all shake our heads.

"No," we all say.

"No idea," Eddie adds.

She draws a question mark.
