"Why shouldn't I leave, huh?"

I was over it like Summer Walker.

"Give me one good reason why I should stay," I snorted as I put the last item on my desk, my trusty black, nothing to write home about stapler into the white box.

Yes, the famous box used to erase all memories of an ex-employee, making way for the new and *ahem* not always improved hire.

"I need you, Mia," he stated simply and shrugged as if I had asked him what one plus one was.

That was Todd for you.

He had always expected people to bend to his every demand because that's how it had always been, even as a child.

Todd Milner was born with the proverbial gold spoon in his mouth and inherited the company that he now ran from his late father who died a few years ago from a raging heart attack.

He was very overweight, just like his daddy, and ate five meals a day which he justified by telling everyone that he exercised excessively every day.

If exercising for a total of five minutes a day is classified as 'excessive' then hit me over the head with Thor's hammer.

Please.

He was slowly running his company, Milner Inc., into the ground with his um...less than sound ideas which included the laptop pillow, microwave phone, and my personal favorite, the ice-cream flavoured tablet.

You know, just in case you suddenly crave some vanilla ice-cream while playing Angry Birds.

We have received an alarming amount of lawsuits concerning radiation poisoning since the launch of these new inventions which is why I made the obvious decision to resign before I get jail time.

That kinda rhymed.

"Sorry Mr. Milner, but my days at this company are numbered," I shrugged sheepishly as I lugged my trusty box towards the rickety elevator.

Honestly, my days here were numbered ever since the day I found out that his middle name was Philbert.

Todd Philbert Milner.

It was comical.

I just couldn't work for a 'Philbert'.

"And nothing I can say will change your mind? Not even, say, a raise?" He prepositioned while wriggling his bushy eyebrows that were thicker than the hair on his actual head.

I shook my head.

"Sorry Sir, but no."

I knew he couldn't afford a raise.

Another reason why I was leaving.

His empty promises.

He reminded me of my old college boyfriend in that way.

Always lying.

His thin papery lips formed a pout and I had to put all of my energy into not cackling like a hyena because that would ruin his whole week.

On my first day here, an intern made the mistake of correcting his grammar while he was in the middle of giving a presentation.

I heard that that intern was later jumped in the restroom and beaten to a pulp.

I don't know if there is any truth to that rumor but I do know that the intern was never seen at Milner Inc. again or anywhere for that matter.

I don't want to get jumped.

I do not want to get jumped.

I quickly turned and made my way towards the elevator just outside my office, well, not mine anymore, before Todd could see the small grin on my face.
