"Yes!"

"Wait, really?"

"Of course silly, I love you!" Mel explained hugging him tightly, both of them awkwardly sprawled out on the ground after James had been knocked off balance from her eager embrace.

"Let me at least put the ring on," he laughed as she planted kisses all over his face.

They were the kind of couple that you couldn't help but 'aww' at, or cry about how single you were when you saw them.

I alternated from time to time.

Just know that I was one more proposal away from lying in the middle of the busiest highway.

She held out her hand to him so he could slip it onto her ring finger.

If was a perfect fit, just like they were.

Too cheesy?

"I can't believe you pulled this off all by yourself!" She exclaimed, gesturing to the orchestra and fairy lights that adorned the garden scenery.

"Well, I had a little help from Mia. She also helped me get your close friends and family here," he admitted shyly as they got up from off the ground.

"You can come out now guys," yelled James, who from the way he was looking around, hadn't managed to figure out where we were hiding.

"My baby is engaged!" Her mother squealed as if she had suddenly become a teenager again before hugging her as tight as possible.

"I got the whole thing on video!" Callie, one of Mel's friends exclaimed, shaking the phone in the air.

"Please send that video to me as soon as possible," I declared as we all kind of gathered into a weird group hug.

"Thanks for being here guys, I know Mel is happy that you guys could be present for this," James grinned when the group hug was over.

"I really am, you guys! I love you for coming even though I was completely clueless about everything," Laughed Mel, putting her arm around her fiancé's waist.

She was looking at him like she couldn't wait to get him alone.

Guess I'll be at the apartment alone tonight.

After everyone said their goodbyes, we all left in our respective cars because it was getting late.

Mel left with James, as I expected, which meant I had the apartment to myself tonight.

Watching television in the living room naked, here I come.

Just kidding.

It was Sunday night and I had work in the morning so I was planning on heading straight to bed.

---------------------------------------------

Because of how romantic the day before was, it was hard to just get back into work mode the next day.

Every free minute I had, I found myself daydreaming about love and how beautiful it was and I needed to snap the hell out of it.

"Mia, I've been calling your name for the past five minutes. I need to talk to you in my office now," I heard my boss mutter.

I opened my eyes and woe and behold, he was standing directly in front of my desk with a scowl on his perfect face.

How did I not hear him enter?

Was I that far gone?

"I'm sorry Sir, I haven't been feeling my best all day, I don't know what's up with me," I told him sheepishly as I got up from my chair and followed him to his office.
