After countless hours of picking and choosing and deliberating, among other things, the day we had all been waiting for had finally arrived.

Today was the day when everything would change.

I was about to lose my roommate to a raging disease called matrimony.

Have you heard of it?

It binds two people together for life, in sickness, and in health.

It was an illness that most didn't mind catching and as I stared at Mel, who looked mind-blowingly ethereal in her wedding gown, I knew I wouldn't mind catching it either.

"You look breathtaking Mel," I told her, my eyes threatening to release tears that would undoubtedly ruin my makeup.

They grew up so fast!

"Stop it before you make me cry," Mel smiled at me, her eyes glistening in the full-length mirror that she stood before.

"You both look amazing," Mel's mother exclaimed, clapping her hands together in glee.

"James won't know what hit him," one of the bridesmaids laughed as she fixed Mel's veil so it wouldn't fall off mid-ceremony.

"Is everything ready Allie?" I asked the wedding coordinator who we had decided was a necessary hire because of how overwhelming everything had gotten as we inched closer to the date of the wedding.

"Yes, we can start right now, just get the bridal party lined up inside because the men are ready then I'll get the band to start playing," she replied, scanning over the clipboard stowed securely in the crook of her right elbow.

"Okay girls, you heard the lady! Let's go line up!" Squealed Peggy, the most dramatic bridesmaid in the group as she stood up, ready to follow Allie to the ends of the earth.

"I can't believe I'm about to get married right now," Mel whispered excitedly from behind me as the first notes of music reached our ears.

"Believe it, sister!" I whispered back excitedly as the first bridesmaid and groomsman started down the aisle.

"Thanks for helping me with everything. I appreciate you so much Mia and I can't wait to do the same for you."

"That is if I ever get married," I joked.

"Not if but when," she chuckled.

That was one thing I envied about Mel, her ability to keep her cool no matter what.

She was about to walk down the aisle with many people watching her every move and marry someone for God's sake but she didn't seem to be nervous or anxious in the slightest.

I would be farting a million times a minute if it were me.

I was a nervous farter.

The only good thing about that was that the farts were soundless and odorless, it was basically just useless air coming out of my body.

It was still uncomfortable though but enough about farts, it was my time to walk down the aisle.

I had been paired with James' best man and best friend, Eric because I was the maid of honor.

He was pretty cute but he'd been in a relationship with his girlfriend, Diana, ever since I met him so we hadn't had any romantic connection.

I was barely even friends with the guy which was fine with me because I didn't like being friends with guys who weren't single.

The girlfriend would always think there was more going on between us even though I could never be interested in a guy who was taken.

It was icky.
