When I woke up, I was shocked to find myself in a bed, with blankets drawn over my body.

All the blinds were shut so all I could see was darkness before my rods and cones adjusted to the lack of light.

I could make out something that looked vaguely like my suitcase in the corner of the large room.

Rafael had carried me up.

I remembered what happened the last time I fell asleep in the car, on the trip to Newport, and he had woken me up because he didn't know if I would be comfortable with being carried.

Thankfully, he knew better now.

I pushed the blankets off myself before slowly getting out of the huge, comfortable bed.

After switching on the lights, I could see that I was in fact right when I assumed that my suitcase was the thing I had seen in the corner.

I fixed up the bed as best as possible then went to go find Rafael to see what he was up to.

While roaming around the penthouse, I couldn't help but wonder how I managed to fall asleep in jeans.

I finally found Rafael in the middle of the kitchen, on the phone with his back turned to me.

"It's fine. You don't need to worry about her, she won't be able to handle it."

Who?

I was just about to tap him on the shoulder before he turned around abruptly, making me jump.

"I'll talk to you later. Yes. I will, bye."

He hung up the phone, then smiled at me.

It didn't quite reach his eyes.

Whoever just called him must have really put him off.

"Everything okay?" I asked, trying to pry without actually prying.

"Yes."

'Yes'?

That was all he was going to say?

"Was that your mom?"

"No, it was Gareth, actually. He was asking about you," He said.

The last part of his sentence seemed to irritate him.

"Oh, I haven't heard from him in a while."

"That's what he said too," He smirked, the previous frown that had inhabited his face, completely gone.

I still had one more question for him.

"Who won't be able to handle what?"

"What?"

"I heard you say on the phone, 'You don't need to worry about her. She won't be able to handle it,'" I said, quoting what he had said to Gareth before he had realized that I was behind him.

"Oh, Gareth's got a new girlfriend and he was just asking me for advice on something," He said easily.

A little too easily.

What am I doing?

He had no reason to lie to me.

"Okay. I haven't seen any security around. Did you change your mind about them when I was sleeping?"

"No, they're stationed outside for now. I wanted us to have some privacy."

I breathed a sigh of relief before he surprised me by kissing me square on the lips before I could do anything to stop him.

I pushed him back in horror.

"No, I was sleeping and I didn't brush my teeth!" I exclaimed before turning to retreat to his room to get my toothbrush.
