The early morning rays seeped through the periwinkle sky and brought to life the echoing call of song birds. It was at this time that you found yourself gently coaxed out of your too short slumber, to which you found yourself level with those achingly beautiful brown eyes, as Eddie whispered in a low tone that it was time to leave.

Dead on your feet, you managed to shuffle around enough to aid him in waking both Robin and Dustin, whom like you, had been oblivious of the time and more preoccupied with fantasical dreams. The clock was slowly creeping towards five am and in a mere two hours, Steve's parents would be waltzing in through the front door. Unlikely wanting to come face to face with a house full of misfits.

Wrapping a supportive arm around you, Eddie led you towards his truck out front, while your other two companions trailed zombie-like behind. "Come on, baby. You can sleep in the car." he too was beyond exhaustion but needed to be conscious enough to get you all home safely.

While you did not think it possible to adore him more than you already did here, there was something about this rare side of Eddie that truly made you fall for him even further. His calm voice and sense of responsibility was such a contrast to his usual chaotic, hyper but equally wonderful self. "Who you calling 'baby', Munson?" you murmured a tease, as you climbed into the shotgun seat, already leaning back heavily into the worn material, that smelt of lingering smoke and spilt alcohol.

"'M tired, Y/L/N. Go easy on me." he grumbled in reply. Turning on the engine, the truck sprang to life with a roar and the forgotten cassette in the player blared jarringly loud, causing you all to yelp in surprise, as with clumsy fingers, the brunet moved to turn the volume down.

"Let's never do that again," you observed with a laugh. "baby."

"I hate you." he huffed, as he reversed the car out of the driveway.

Eventually, the other two passengers were dropped off at their respective homes and you were finally able to return to the trailer, where at the immediate sight of the bedroom, you kicked off your shoes and tumbled into Eddie's unmade bed.

The soft padding of his socked feet alerted you to the brunet's prescence, as he sat heavily upon the comforter.

"You coming to bed?" you mumbled, pulling slightly at his t-shirt, gingerly urging him to lie down beside you.

He regarded you with affectionate gaze, completely besotted with your relaxed presence. It felt so right for him to see in his bed, safe and cared for- just as you deseved to be. Oh, how his wanted to join you, craving an intimate exchange of languid kisses and breathy sweet nothings, until you both fell into a peaceful state of rest. But alas, he answered, "In a bit, I gotta finish an essay for Social Studies, it's due tomorrow. You get some sleep, I'll work in the living room."

Not wanting him to leave your side, you did not loosen your grip on the edge of his shirt. "Come sit next to me, I'll keep you company."

"It's fine, I can-"

"Eds, get your butt in here already." you pouted and whined, coyly knowing that he was ever unlikely going to deny you such a tempting request. Much to your glee, he obliged your demand, only leaving to collect his study supplies from one of the many heaped stacks of papers, that lay in organised disarray around his room.
