A/N: I can hardly believe it, 47 chapters! That's insane. How was I managing to write a chapter a day? I can barely write a sentence of late. Writer's block is in full swing right now, so get this chapter finished was a real challenge but here we are! Enjoy! Sorry for the delay! I'll try to do better with updates in the future! I'm thinking of making my updates weekly, which will allow me to be consistent with the instalments. Thoughts?
A huge thank you to sammie_winchester, for the continued support of this book and for your help with the chapter!

By the time the cavalry arrived, you had already left. What greeted them was not expected the reddened faces or the heated words of two lovers entangled in a quarrel but the dismal sight of one Eddie Munson, sat head in hands on the porch step of the trailer, bawling his eyes out and with only his truck remaining in the drive way. The members of Hawkins's bravest, whom had remained in Indiana and managed to cram themselves into Steve's car, all paled at the sight of his lone, anguished figure. Not only had you finally reached your limit and fled from the trailer but you had escaped into the night- the obsidian, unforgiving darkness, that you feared so much.
"Fuck." was all Robin had been able to utter, as they all remained unmoving, frozen in realisation that, if Eddie had not been enough to convince you to stay, then you had finally left town for good.
As the later evening slipped into the early morning hours, when the moon was beginning to wake but the obsidian gloom continued to engulf the suburban landscape of Hawkins. Just like her peers, Chrissy Cunningham too was fast asleep in her bedroom, which was located down the hall from her parents, whom also had succumbed to a blissful unaware. However, unlike her guardians, the head cheerleader was soon awoken but a persistent tap! tap! at her window, which soon pulled her away from her dreams and back into the realm of reality. When the sound did not cease, she eventually rose in confusion and caution, questioning what on earth could be making that sound?
Stumbling over to her window, Chrissy drew back the frilled curtains her Mother had picked out for the decor but she herself despised and feared the worst but she might as well have not bothered, for in the garden below, stood the lone figure of none other than Eddie Munson. With a surprised intake of breath, she took notice of his gesture for her to pull the sash window up. Hastily obliging, the blonde prayed that her parents would not hear the hushed commotion and leave their room to inspect the source of the noise.
She could not fathom what reasoning could have possesed the brunet into deciding to visit her at such an hour. If it had been an emergency, surely he could have paged her, rather than risk being caught by her patents? "Eddie, what are you doing here?" she hissed, wincing at the echoing sound of her voice. "Are you insane? My parents are-"
"Y/N left me." was all he said, looking up at her as if she were Juliet and he, Romeo. Except theirs was no star-crossed romance but a platonic arrangement that served them both well, as long as the agreed rules were respected.
That night, Chrissy realised, some rules were meant to be broken, especially when your friend was in dire need. "Meet me out front."
There was so little time left before the sun rose and a new morning in Hawkins dawned, while its residents busied themselves with getting ready for the day ahead. So, Eddie supposed he had better make do with the precious lingering darkness. "Thanks, you know. For, uh, sneaking out an' all."
"I mean, you didn't leave me much choice, Eddie." she nudged him in the ribs playfully, showing that there was no mslice behind her words but when the brunet failed to even crack a smile, Chrissy sighed, knowing that nothing could possibly brighten his understandably saddened mood. "How are you holding up?"
