A/N: I have plans for Eddie and Y/N...
...very interesting plans.
*****
One Month Later.
"You don't have to do this."
"I know but I wanted to."
With a huff, you sunk into the nearest kitchen chair and tried to make yourself comfortable. There was no reasoning with the brunet but something in you felt relentlessly defensive as you snapped back with, "I would have been fine, Eds."
"Y/N," brown eyes regarded you with an incredulous glare, his tools momentarily forgotten. "your milk is literally liquid butter in a carton at this point."
You were too prideful for your own good at this point. For so long, you had been surviving fine on your own. There had been am unspoken vow made to yourself that, when Eddie next saw you, you would be completely self-sufficient and yet, here you were, a damsel in distress and needing a Knight in ripped black jeans to help you. It was humiliating. "My landlord said he'd get his guy to fix it."
"He's been saying that for two weeks straight and still hasn't sent an electrician over."
Eddie was right, your landlord was a cheapskate. Asking him to spend a penny of his own money was like trying to get blood from a stone. Impossible. Still, you were persistent in your argument and unlikely to back down anytime soon. "He's really busy."
"No, he's a douchebag." Eddie scoffed, his brow scrunching up slightly, as his focus was pulled from you and to the blown switch in front of him. Taking notice of the frown, you could not help but internally comment on how adorable the brunet looked when deep in concentration. After being apart for so long, you could hardly help but indulge in enjoying the view. As long as all you did was look and not touch- everything would be okay, right?
"Eddie." his name left your lips in a softened groan, evidently exhausted with the verbal sparring match. The sound was in no way meant to be perceived as explicit but Eddie could not help but feel a flare of desire sweep right through him. He knew not to think of you with such affections but old habits died hard. He had spent months with nothing but you on his mind and now that you were back in his life, it would take time to untangle you from his thoughts. Rather than let his memories of previous rendez-vous run rampant in his mind, Eddie tried with all of his might, to re-hone his thoughts to the problem at hand.
"Have you ever been late with his rent?"
Your eyebrows furrowed at his question, wondering where he was going with his line of enquiry. "What? No."
Pausing mid-alteration, Eddie offered you a smug grin, before he carried on with his repairs. "If you haven't been late paying him, then he shouldn't be late making sure you don't poison yourself with spoilt food."
It was your turn to scoff but instead, you preferred to play coy and push the brunet's buttons further. "I mean, I mainly eat the leftovers from work, soooo-"
"That's not the point, Y/N." he huffed, knowing your game well but still falling headfirst into the trap. Though he enjoyed getting to put the information he had learned about electrical amendments to good use, Eddie hated how stubborn you could be. He tried to remind himself that, the cause for your infuriating self-sufficiency stemmed from having unreliable guardians but sometimes, he just wished you would stop being so contrite and simply accept his help.
"You haven't told Joyce, have you?" there was a note of anxiety in your voice. As much as you loved Mrs Byers, she could be pretty overbearing at times, especially when it came to things like negligent landlords. Mountains were often made into molehills and you just wanted to avoid her making a fuss.
