Minato smiled at the random Uchiha and Kakashi went over to the fallen Shinobi.
The mysterious Uchiha looked up at Obito and studied him. "You seem unaffected by whatever made half the population deaf." Obito nodded. So it wasn't just Sasuke.
"Honestly it's probably because whoever caused it was most likely looking for you." The Uchiha said with a shrug. He pulled his attention back to Sasuke. He seemed fine just distraught.
When the Uchiha looked towards what Sasuke was looking at he winced. "I wish he didn't have to see that, let's just hope Itachi isn't that mad about it." Obito knew that name, it is Sasuke's brother.
"May I ask your name I don't know it." The Uchiha smiled and stood to his full height. "I'm Shisui of the Uchiha clan, I'm also unfamiliar with you." He seemed to be more on the defensive side than friendly.
"I am Obito Uchiha." Shisui nodded and seemed in thought for a moment. "I think I have heard of you, but last I checked you were dead." Minato seemed to be able to hear now and just looked shocked at the bluntness of Shisui's words.
Shisui laughed. "Well whatever happened is really none of my business, but... I do wonder what you were doing with Sasuke." Shisui quickly regained his seriousness the second it disappeared. Obito nodded. He was glad someone didn't poke around business that doesn't involve them.
"Well, Sasuke wouldn't stop nagging me about training him." Obito replied with a smile. Shisui gasped. "You really trained him? Nobody has even bothered and I'm too busy to do it myself." Shisui said with crossed arms.
Obito smiled again. "Ah well, the plan me and Sasuke agreed to was to continue his training into his later years of academy." Shisui thought for a moment before nodding. "Yea, that sounds like a good plan, I suppose he is too young for those sorts of things."
Obito nodded. "And hopefully by that time I would have regained my lost morals." Shisui seemed confused but didn't ask questions. "Well I have to be off and help Sasuke. He's too young to experience a burst eardrum without complications." Obito nodded.
"Then I'll see you around to speak in more detail." Shisui nodded. "Yea of course." Shisui disappeared with Sasuke in a flicker.
"No wonder he had no bloodied ears."
Minato stared shocked at Obito's newfound demeanor. Minato turned to Kakashi and realized Kakashi had been more professional than him, and he's the Hokage.
Minato decided to dig further into Obito later, right now he needed to see the corpses of the invading shinobi.
Kakashi had already unmasked most of them but what made Minato's stomach turn was the fact they were still on the tree that Obito had summoned.
It's like some sort of sick Christmas tree.
Minato looked at Obito who seemed equally uncomfortable with this.
"Did they know you by chance?" Minato asked Obito. Obito's eyebrows furrowed which have the answer before he spoke.
"They were children I grew up with in that place. They knew I had entered and stole information from the archive." Minato was silent. He stared at the wood style that Obito posseses.
It was unruly and in every sense of the word, terrifying. The branches were dead and showed no sign of any former life.
Of course the corpses that riddled the tree didn't make it any better.
Minato took a glance towards Obito, to Minato's surprise Obito was upset.
"Something happen?" Minato asked. Kakashi listened in but didn't look towards the two.
Obito furrowed his eyes again and to Minato's surprise they seemed tight like tears would fall.
"One of them is the one who gave me my name. I suppose I'm just upset." Minato was silent.
"Tobias?" Obito nodded reluctantly.
Minato looked back at the corpses. "They gave names to each other?" Minato looked back to Obito. "Why would you give each other names?" Minato asked.
Obito's face expression changed to his usual expressionless face. "Once we knew we were no longer going to be given the poison we figured it was time for names." Minato looked down with dark eyes.
"I see."
Before Minato could ask anything about Sasuke Obito had already left.
Minato frowned and looked back to the tree. Kakashi had finished uncovering their faces. And just as Obito had hinted to, they were around the same age as him. The ones he would have had grown up with.
Obito walked back to his given apartment. The thing is that he had been emotional recently, and that is something he doesn't really do, both voluntarily and involuntarily.
It was time he slept, he had gone long enough without sleeping.
He took off his shoes before entering and went straight to his bed, he had a weird day today.
Probably the weirdest part of the day was him actually promising to train Sasuke, but for some reason he didn't actually feel that bothered by it.
For the first time in a very long time there was a light flicker while he slept. His dreams are often filled with darkness. A constant consciousness but at the same time it's the numbness of his entire body.
But in the end Obito convinced himself the following morning that it was nothing more than a flickering light.
When Obito stood up he felt a light dizziness in his head he didn't know what it was but he continued on his day by getting dressed and showering, the normal things to do in the morning. (Obito hopes anyway)
When he finally left the house the sun had risen over the horizon, it's not the crack of dawn but it's by no means late. Obito should just get a clock.
There wasn't much he was doing anymore these days, and that as a result has made his life incredibly boring.
"I suppose today is the day where I'm not lazy."
Obito walked down the steps that led to his house and walked through the town to the front of the village.
The lack of progress with the unknown organization that he had so been in most of his life had left his annoyed.
Suppose in the end you really can't rely on people to solve your own problems.
