Chapter 55- grim to grimmer

Obito shook his head, it wasn't helpful to think about that. Nor was it the time. Obito twisted his legs back to the correct direction. He bent his knees slowly as if to reabilitate them. Obito payed no mind do the Shuriken that littered his body they were nothing except extra weight he could deal with later.

He felt his eyes heat up as he activated his Sharingan. The world around his contorted into a spiral as he himself spun into his own eye.

When he appeared in his own realm he immediately sensed Sasuke's tense chakra. Looking around he spotted Sasuke sitting down clutching his arm.

Sasuke must have felt Obito's own presence and turned. Sasuke's eyes widened in horror as he stared at Obito's battered and bloodied body. Sasuke opened his mouth to speak but only shut it. Tears pricked the corner of his eyes.

"Don't worry about it Sasuke, I'm fine." Obito tried to comfort the boy. But it clearly did nothing. "This is all my fault!" Sasuke shook has the tears finally escaped his eyes. Obito was about to protest but Sasuke interrupted.

"I shouldn't have followed you without asking! You would be okay if it weren't for me!" His lips quivered as he spoke.

Obito looked silently at the crying boy.

"Take it as you will. But know that I am fine." Obito finally said. "It makes me happy you weren't as badly hurt as I was." Obito tried to smile reassuringly.

Sasuke sniffed but eyed Obito's arms and back. Obito still had Shuriken on his clothes and body. Obito eyes Sasuke's arm.

It was badly bruised already turning a harsh people and blue. That's when he grabbed him wasn't it?

"Sorry Sasuke." Obito finally said after a long silence. Sasuke only looked at the floor. "I don't care." Sasuke half hearitdly shrugged.

Obito was glad he didn't mind, but explaining this to Fugaku much less Itachi was going to be a chore.

"I think it's time we head back." "I have more than enough things to think about." Sasuke smiled slightly as if to try and reassure Obito. Sasuke probably knows they are both going to get a lecture.

Sasuke held his breath as he contorted and shifted out of the realm through Obito's eye. Obito stood silently for a moment. Obito eyes his arms and legs before plucking the Shuriken out of his body. He didn't need Minato or Kakashi seeing.

Obito swirled into his own eye before he found himself in the front gates of the village.

His clothes were bloodied and tattered beyond repair. Sasuke stood not to far from him already walking towards the gate.

The two that were keeping guard at the front gate hurried to Sasuke when he saw him.

Sasuke definitely was reported missing. Obito inwardly sighed, he better not be accused for his involuntary kidnapping.

The two guards took quick notice of Obito and his condition. Even though Obito would say it's not as bad as it looks, it most definitely is as bad as it looks.

"The Shinobi and child reported missing suddenly found together." One of them said. Obito raised an eyebrow. "I was reported missing? Thats just absurd." He wouldn't put it past Kushina though. With her mastery of seals he's surprised she didn't try and tamper with their shared seal.

"Go get the Hokage, Fugaku as well." The one with a cigarette said harshly. "I want to leave don't get the Hokage." Obito said as he sighed. Sasuke only looked up at him. "The Hokage is the one who filed the missing report I'm sure he would like to know of your return." Obito only stared blankly at the man.

"The Hokage... Filed the report?" The man nodded in reply. Obitos eyebrows furrowed.

This is what he meant by "he didn't want someone breathing down his neck."

The guards eyes widened as they looked at Obito. "Are you okay? We might need to ask what happened." The younger of the two asked. Obito shrugged and suddenly knew what they were staring at. "Oh." Is all Obito said before he reached his hand to grab the knife. Before he could pull it out however his hand was roughly grabbed.

"Don't grab it dumbass!" The older of the two growled. "The both of you are going to the hospital. Go alert the Hokage and Fugkaku like originally planned." The older ordered the younger.

Obito wanted to try to argue but he really didn't have the energy his body was not only sore, but his body felt weak. The hit to his spine and vertebrae was still being healed, and no doubt would be healed until tomorrow.

Sasuke looked up at Obito again. "Your important." Obito looked at Sasuke with wide eyes and the man guiding them to the hospital side eyed Sasuke.

Obito didn't reply or made an effort to. In the end he doesn't really feel that way.

That was all that was said to the trip to the hospital.

Kushina unfortunately for Obito had been working that day. So when both Sasuke and Obito had been checked in Kushina had immediately taken the role as their nurse.

Kushina looked at Obito with a worried gaze. Apparently the knife the woman used was laced with a numbing poison, that would make sense why he felt weirdly heavy. What also seemed to worry Kushina was the fact the knife was chakra infused when he was stabbed, it teared through his muscle and shocked his nerves.

Of course, Obito didn't feel any of that. Had any of them watched how he fought they would all be mortified.

"Why is it that every time you leave the village something bad happens?" Kushina asked quietly. Obito stared at her with a blank expression. "I suppose it's been happening since I was a kid." Kushina flinched at the words. Obito hadn't meant to say it like that.

Had it been someone he knew they would laugh at his joke. But everyone he knew he doesn't remember and those he met are dead.

The door opened harshly and Minato walked through with his eyes immediately set on Obito.

"We really need to talk."

And with that, the atmosphere went from grim to grimmer.
