"Obito, we need to know about your Sharingan. It holds extreme potential." The elder man said. Your couldn't even see his eyes the room was too dark. Though, Obito could see just fine. He was raised in this environment. It's like built in night vision. That doesn't mean it doesn't come without a price, he has a hard time adjusting to sunlight.
"What potential interests you?" Obito asked. He knows these types of people. He wouldn't have when he was a child but even then, he knows he resented them. He was casted away, sent away because he couldn't activate his Sharingan at the preferred age.
Doesn't the Sharingan activate out of emotional trauma? Why would anyone want anyone to go through such things.
The answer is simple. The elders of the clan. They are Power hungry. They only want the things that will be useful to them.
"We need you to be specific preferably. Anything you do with that Sharingan falls on us." The same elder spoke.
When Obito observed them you could see they were nervous. They were in the room of a very unpredictable person, much less an unpredictable person with a Mangekyou Sharingan.
He could practically hear the tension in the room by the silence. A silence they expect him to fill.
"I have no reason to show you anything I'm capable of." Obito said. His voice had no particular tone.
The cracks in the wall, the paint peeling, the lights in the distant rooms flickered. The floor would creak when someone would adjust their position. The sound of chairs moving. The crinkle of paper filling the silence that beckoned madness.
Danzo didn't speak but Obito saw him move. He didn't seem to have trouble walking around but he was quiet obviously still adjusting to the darkness of the room.
The precautions taken just so Obito doesn't take information.
Obito stared at Danzo the entire time he moved to one chair the next whispering to the elders of his ideas.
"There is no reason to be so secretive with your own clan." The elder smiled despite no one being able to see him to do it.
Obito didn't respond. The idea of his clan being his own kinship sounded foreign to him. He felt no connection to the other Uchiha, nor did he ever want to.
The elder's we're getting irritated especially Danzo, apparently he has some authority about this meeting. The elders of Konaoha are here as well but didn't seem at all bothered by Obito's responses thus far.
"You have been absent from the village for a very long time, we can accept you." The elder said, he was trying to reason with Obito.
Obito frowned. "I'm going to be honest, I'm afraid I don't really care for the clan. The clan, in all honesty, is not my business." The elders were surprised by Obito's response and clearly seemed to anger Danzo more.
Finally Danzo spoke. "It would be good for you to reallocate yourself back into the village, a good start would be your own clan."
Why was Danzo even here?
"What about this entire meeting is for your own benefit?" Obito said blankly. Minato looked stunned that Obito said that and so did the elders.
Danzo looked annoyed by the question. "It's not for my own benefit. It's for the village." Danzo countered. Obito shook his head. "Nothing about your underground army is for the benefit of the village." Danzo's eyes widened and Minato looked at Obito.
"What do you mean by that Obito?" Obito looked questionably at Minato. Obito inwardly smiled. So they didn't know.
Danzo looked at Obito with a sharp gaze. A gaze that would stop anyone in their tracks.
"It's quite similar to the organization I was in. The curse mark and all." Minato was silent but stood up.
"Danzo?" Minato asked. Danzo was quiet. "You wouldn't believe the words he says would you?" Danzo said with his head held high. His pride blocks his mental vision.
Minato was quiet for a second. Danzo relished the silence, but his enjoyment quickly came to an end. "Perhaps I shouldn't believe Obito. But even so, I would like to investigate the claim." Danzo stared wide eyes at the Hokage.
"If it's not true you won't mind us investigating the claim?" A Konaoha elder said. Danzo looked shocked but he quickly regain his composure.
"Of course." Danzo said blankly. The meeting came to an abrupt end. The Clan elders insisted to continue without the presence of the Hokage, but it was denied.
"It's clear he has no intention of rejoining the clan and neither me or you can force him to do so." Is what Minato said. There will be no future meeting about the reallocation of rejoining Obito back into the clan.
It's a simple concept but yet so complicated. So easy to quit but not without eyes on your back of those who disagree with the desicion.
Obito walked out with Minato, he wanted to ask him some questions.
"You speak of an organization led by Danzo." Minato beckoned Obito to continue the statement. Obito nodded. "It's been around for a while, like the Anbu but much like the organization I was held in." Minato furrowed his eyebrows.
"There had been an organization like that. It was publicly held before but was banned by the third Hokage, his reasoning was that it was inhumane and unnecessary. By such I agree." Minato rubbed his temple.
"I understand Danzo does most of these things for the village. But there are times when he can't differentiate inhumane and humane. He is much like a tyrant." Minato took a long sigh. Obito nodded.
It was obvious he had expected something like this to occur, but Minato being the man he is, he held trust that his suspicions would be wrong, sometimes Minato's kindness has him questioning his own intuition.
Obito looked at the sky, it was turning dark. Today had been filled with things he wished to avoid. There had to be something else.
Something else he was so clearly missing.
