Chapter 32

Everyone sat on the benches as the nurses went away to continue with their work. They were still lost when a peon came there asking for him. Abhimanyu cleared his face and went to him and was informed about meeting Dr. Agnihotri.

Abhimanyu nodded and was going when Manik and Sanket asked to join him. He looked at the duo and then turned to Manik,

Abhimanyu: go meet her first!

Manik: not until I know what to say...

He said looking nowhere while Sanket,

Sanket: And she is sleeping. They have given her painkillers.

Abhimanyu nodded and then he asked Mukti to go inside and be with Nandani for the time. Saying this he left. They all went to Dr. Agnihotri's cabin and entered after knocking. The doctor looked at them and then turned to Abhimanyu as he asked,

Dr. Agnihotri: I thought I just called you Dr. Thakkar.

Abhimanyu: I apologize for that. They are new interns in the hospitals. They will be joining from Monday, next week.

Dr. Agnihotri: I still don't know what they are doing here.

Abhimanyu: Sir, actually the girl about whom I am here to discuss is a close friend. We are just curious regarding the situation as you can see none of her family members is here and she is well pretty injured.

The doctor still looked at them unsure when Manik said,

Manik: Sir, please be assured we are not here with any ill motive.

Dr. Agnihotri sighed and asked the trio to sit down as he kept some X-rays on the screen and asked,

Dr. Agnihotri: What is your name?

He asked pointing at Manik and Sanket which they replied.

Dr. Agnihotri: Sanket, what can you see in this?

Sanket: The patient's bone connecting the leg and foot is broken. Very difficult to walk and very painful.

He nodded and then put the other on the screen and then gestured Manik to say,

Manik: looks like a concussion on the right side.

Dr. Agnihotri: looks like?

Manik: well, if these are Nandani's reports, we can't be sure. This may also be bleeding caused by hair pulling but if these are not then a concussion.

The doctor nodded and then turned to them and asked Abhimanyu,

Dr. Agnihotri: What did you find?

Abhimanyu: as expected! Major damage to both the eardrums!

Dr. Agnihotri: BOTH?

Abhimanyu nodded. Dr. Agnihotri sighed and said,

Dr. Agnihotri: Well, we have to put a plaster on her foot. We have to also get an MRI done for her head just so we are sure, for her marks then they will fade with the time of course but for her ears, Abhimanyu I am giving you the full right. It is your call!

Abhimanyu nodded while they all stood up and were about to leave. When Dr. Agnihotri asked,

Dr. Agnihotri: What about the police report?

Manik: We will do that first thing in the morning!

The doctor looked at the trio and nodded as they left. It was even heart-wrenching for him as this was the first time, he saw something like this.

The trio went back to the emergency and saw Mukti talking to someone. They all frowned as Manik went to her and asked her gesturing who is it. To which she mouthed "Mom". Manik nodded and sat there.
