Chapter 38

They both made a face and Cabir left to clear up the payments and get the reports. He soon came back and then they went to drop off Sanket at his home. While Manik waited in his car Cabir went upstairs to drop off Sanket and inform his parents about the doctor he came back after 20 mins and they drove home. Cabir got down and helped Manik to get off too. They went inside to see Manik's mother and Alya sitting there. They both freaked out seeing him like this after which Cabir gave them the explanation.

Alya: Bro whatever! You and Nandani do have a connection.

Manik after having a glass of water asked her,

Manik: What?

Alya: Yeah! She freaked out 30-40-something minutes ago and said that she don't feel well suddenly. She had this sinking feeling so we made her have some meds and gave her something to eat and made her sleep. Mukti dii is actually with her only. In case she needs anything.

Manik sighed at her and then nodded throwing his head back while Cabir asked,

Cabir: What about Nandani's stuff? It is here, right?

Manik's mom: It is!

Manik looked at his mother with a frown and then at his cousins and asked the siblings to go away. They both quietly slipped off when Manik asked them,

Manik: What's up Mom?

Nyonika: Manik I don't care if you feel bad but you are getting hurt because of that girl!

Manik: I know!

Nyonika: When you know then why have you kept her here?

Manik: Because it is not paining now!

His mother looked at him surprised. Manik smiled at him and asked her to sit down beside him and said,

Manik: Mom I might have some sleepless nights; it might hurt for a few days but you will always find me happy. (He kept his head on her lap and held her hand and said) I know and I remember it like yesterday when she went away leaving me and my love here just to make a career. I carried that thought to stop her for all these years. I should have and I somewhere did let her go to do that but my heart was never at peace. You know all these years when she came back here every time I thought that if things were different, if she didn't have to go away, then she might have been in my arms, and I might be happy. But after seeing her talking about her house and everything she likes to have there, all those details in the rooms, in her apartments, it made me so proud of her. And I know all that is possible because after all these years she is standing on her feet and is free to do anything that she wants. And I now feel guilty that if those days, when she was going when she was here for her trip if any of those days, I would have stopped her na, it would pain me a lot today. But now it doesn't! I know she is here! And I know she will always be here. (He looked at his mother and said) You will love her mom! Just wait and watch till she shows her magic!

His mother chuckled looking at her son and said,

Nyonika: Manu you are so whipped!

Manik laughed with her and then he got up and said,

Manik: I will go and check on Nandani and sleep! These painkillers man!

Nyonika: Wait here! I will get something to eat!

Manik: No Mom I am really sleepy I will go and crash! See you later!

Nyonika nodded and Manik went away walking with the support of the walls. Nyonika smiled at her son and went into her room. Manik on the other hand hopped on his uninjured foot and climbed the stairs. He somehow managed to get into his room when he saw the common area empty, he knew the other two were in Alya's room. He entered to Mukti watch a movie while Nandani was asleep. He waved his hand for Mukti who was about to shout after looking at Manik's foot. Manik kept a finger on his lips shutting her up and gesturing to Nandani. Mukti looked at him with wide eyes while Manik went near her and whispered,
