You waited with Barton at the top of the room in his nest. It was a small little area that was pretty much just a bridge with a yellow railing. "When do you think Fury will get here?" you asked amid the silence. If you gained one thing from your father it certainly was the ability to never shut up.
"He'll be here when he gets here-"
Almost like the one-eyed man himself heard them his voice rang through the room "Talk to me Doctor" Lifting your hand to your ear, you played with the small buttons on a small device gifted to you by your nosy father to hear the conversation between the two.
Dr. Selvig nodded in welcome and spoke as you watched from afar. "Tesseract is misbehaving" the doctor sighed
"is that supposed to be funny?"
"No, it's not funny at all. The Tesseract is not only active, she's..." The doctor did funny hand motions making you snicker "Misbehaving"
"How soon until you pull the plug?"
"She's an energy source. If we turn off the power, she turns it back on. If she reaches peak level..." Erik trailed off as he thought of the disaster that could unfold
"We've prepared for this, doctor" Nick sighed "Harnessing energy from space"
"We don't have the harness. Our calculations are far from complete. Now she's throwing off interference, and radiation. Nothing harmful! low levels of gamma radiation"
Fury looked to the Doctor "That can be harmful. Where's Barton and Stark?"
"The Hawk and the Iron Child?" you'll have to have to talk to them about that nickname "Up in the nest, as usual"
"welp. Show time bird boy" you sighed as you turned down your small eavesdropping device after hearing Fury demanding a report on both of your earpieces
"let's go Iron Child" Clint smirked at you knowing you hate the nickname as much as he hates the one you gave him
"HEY!" you called out annoyed chasing after Clint who started his climb down
