Riley

"Rewind!" I called watching as Kyle had tried to sneak past me at lunch the following day. He had somehow managed to avoid me the entire day, only proving he was hiding something. Something that at this point I needed to know
"Riley" Kyle said with the same attitude he shows when he's trying to be stubborn
"Kyle" I said crossing my arms across my chest
"Where have you been all day?" I asked looking him up and down

"just around" He said shrugging it off attempting to walk past me
"pack it in" I said making him sigh turning back to me
"I can't tell you Riley and the more you push me to tell you, the more hurt we will all get from it" He said making me look at him even more confused

"What are you talking about? The fact this has the ability to hurt us, proves that I need to know Kyle!" I exclaimed

"No Riley it doesn't and I'm not going to be the one who tells you this!" He said drawing the attention of a few people around us
"You either tell me Kyle or I'll find out another way" I said but before he could say anything else, the door next to us opened revealing James and his friends walking, James took one look at us before offering us both a smile before re-reading the situation

"What's going on?" James asked taking a step forward while Eldon and West kept their distance

"you need to tell her James, I'm not going to be the one to do your dirty work for you anymore" Kyle said making me tilt my head slightly with furrowed brows
The secret was to do with James?
"what is going on?" I asked, James looked at Kyle a little taken back before looking at myself with the exact some expression

"Someone better say something!" I yelled, watching both boys look at each other trying to silently debate their next move
"In that case" I said grabbing my bag in the attempt to move past the pair of them

But i didn't get the chance to even get past the closest table between us all before I was pulled back at the sound of one voice who had been silent to me all day.

"James won't go to College. He won't go because he doesn't want to leave you" Kyle said softly, I turned around slowly looking at Kyle confused raising a brow as he shortly bowed his head
My gaze then shifted to James who stood there looking at Kyle with just as much shock

"Is that true?" I asked, James looked over at me but he didn't say anything, he didn't even look like he wanted to say anything
"Is it true James" I said again watching as he scratched the back of his neck

"Yes" Was all he mustered before now avoiding all eye contact with me, I shook my head continuing my escape out of this situation
There were countless people yelling after me but none of them gave me a reason to turn back

--

I got home and instantly threw my bag down before hearing the engine of James' bike pull up on the drive way, I sighed locking the door
If James knew what was best for us right now, he would go home. If I saw him right now, I would do something we would both regret in the long run

"Riley let me in" I heard him say but I wasn't going to do that

I did that and I was practically signing the end of the line for both of us

"Riley I swear to god! I will kick this door down" I heard James yell
"Go home James" I said placing my hand on the door hoping hearing me say that would be enough for him to get the hint

"Not until you talk to me!" He exclaimed
"That isn't how this works, go home" I warned him
"Riley let me in" James said

"no James" I warned him again
"This is the last time I'm telling you, Go home" I said before looking through the small window next to the door

I watched as James punched the air before placing his forehead on the railing outside in the attempt to clam himself down but it was going to take a lot more then some air punches to satisfy that

But if I let him right now, it wouldn't end well for anyone..
