It's true what they say, you always regret the words you say after you've said them. Why didn't I think this through, I knew Riley wouldn't have done this on purpose
The fact of the matter is, she'll always put other people happiness first. That's the kind of best friend she is
But that also shows how much of a crap one I've been

"Do you love her" I muttered making James look up from having his head resting on Riley's hand
"What?" He asked and I looked at him again
"Do you love Riley" I asked making James glance over at Riley before looking back at me with a smile on his face
One I had never seen before

"Yeah Kyle, I do" He said and I nodded
"She isn't just a pick of the week?" I asked and he shook his head
"How long?" I questioned
"a little under 5 months" He answered making me widen my eyes slightly
"So the guy she helped escape her bedroom?" I asked making him chuckle
"Guilty" he said 

I looked at Riley still holding her hand tightly, I can't believe I did this to her

"I wanted to tell you and so did Ri, she was planning to the day you told her about Jessica breaking up with you" James said making me look over at him again
"Why did she think she had to hide this though" I asked and James gave me the look
"Kyle, you and I both you know you already know the answer to that question" he said
"You are and always will be Riley's first port of call, her priority. She knew that if you knew about us. You'd feel a certain way" he explained and I nodded slightly

"Kyle, I don't say this lightly but I love this girl with all my heart. She isn't going to just be my pick for a little while. If I don't end up with Riley, I don't want to end up with anyone" He said with his serious face on
"I'm glad you both have each other" I said looking at Riley
"You were there for her when I wasn't" I continued
"You helped her when I hurt her" I added
"She deserves someone like you James" I said looking at him
"She deserves someone to treat her how she deserves to be treated, someone to show her how beautiful she is, show her what she deserves" I smiled 
"And that person is you" I said making James smile 

"You don't know how much that means to hear and how much Riley will appreciate it" He said giving her hand a little squeeze
"I've been a dick, a royal ass. I'd be lucky if Riley let me back into her life" I muttered
"Don't be so hard on yourself, Riley loves you more then she loves anyone else in this world, you're her person" James smiled making me sigh looking at Riley once more

James had fallen asleep a little while ago, he hadn't let go of Riley's hand since we got into the room but I'm one to talk. I haven't either
I was about to try and get comfortable to sleep when I felt pressure on the bed shift slightly, as I looked up I saw Riley begin to stir causing a huge smile to fall onto my face
"Riley" I breathed out making her look at me, she batted her eyes a couple times probably just adapting to the light

"Kyle? What is going on?" She whispered after noticing the sleeping James
"You're in the hospital Riles, James and I found you in the bathroom" I said making her bow her head
"you don't hate me?" She asked and I shook my head 
"not at all Riley, I hurt you. You were hurting, you were alone" I said making her look at me

She glanced over at James allowing a small smile to creep on her face
"I'm sorry for how I reacted about it all" I said grabbing her attention 
"Does that mean?" She asked and I nodded
"Riley, I wouldn't ever want you to be unhappy and I'm pretty certain, James is your happiness" I smiled making Riley smile as she opened one arm for a hug
"I love you Ki" She said into our hug
"I love you too Riles" I smiled 

She was okay..
