(A nightmare)
--Josh had me pinned against a wall, with both arms on either side of my shoulders. His breath stunk. Beer. The smell made me want to puke. He was smiling.
"Take me back," he murmured.
I closed my eyes. A tear slipped down my cheek.
"Take me back." He said forcefully, a little louder. His face got closer to mine and one of his hands began to caress my cheek. I shook my head slowly. "No," My voice broke. His eyes grew hard.
"No?"
Keeping my eyes closed, I bit my lip.
"That was a mistake, love." The hate in his voice was clear. His brown eyes grew dark. My body began to shake. I was terrified. "I thought you knew not to say no to me..." He trailed off, looking deep in thought.
I took the chance and my eyes fluttered open. My knee went up and both of his hands moved from the wall. His body jerked back. Grunts left his mouth. "Dammit!" I ran as fast as my little legs would take me. It wasn't until then that I realized we were in my old house. In my room. I knew this house by heart.
My heart was pounding as I ran. I didn't bother to stop as I swung my door open to see if he was following. My feet led me into my old kitchen. You're close, Hayles. Go!
"You can't outrun me, Hayley!" I heard Josh's voice echo.
Heavy breaths were escaping my mouth. I was now through the kitchen and in the living room. The door was right there. As I reached towards it, an arm grasped my waist and a hand covered my mouth. I was turned around to face Josh.
He was smiling again. But it was a sad smile. It caught me off guard and he took the opportunity to kiss me. His lips sloppily moved against mine. I tried screaming. It was no use.

"No, no, no" I sat up, shaking. I was sweaty and my cheeks were wet. My face was in my hands. Nightmares weren't unusual for me. I had them a lot, especially recently. But every time I had one, I always called James. James was my other best friend. He was my age, 17, and was tall and lean. He had short brown hair and hazel eyes. He was my buddy. I let out a shaky breath and searched for my phone.
After finding it on the floor beside my bed, I dialed his number. He picked up on the fifth ring.
"Hayley?" He sounded half asleep.
"James.." My voice was hoarse.
"Hayley...it's 3 a.m."
I nodded but forgot he couldn't see. "I know..I just woke up from a terrible nightmare." I sighed.
"Okay," he said slowly, "Let me walk over. Is your mom asleep?"
"I highly doubt it. When I went to sleep she was working on business papers."
"Alright, ill be over there in a second." He hung up and I cut my phone off.
A couple days ago I had found out that he was actually dating Ana. Yep, my best friend was dating Taylor's sister. Shocking, huh? He mentioned he'd be staying at her house this weekend. I leaned back against my window. Pushing the covers off of me, I let out another shaky sigh.
My nightmares lately have involved Josh. But in every single one he has tried forcing me to come back to him. To love him again. The nightmares always left me waking up in sweat. Our breakup was enough for me to develop them, though. As much as I hated calling James, I knew I had to tell him.
