(Saturday; 5 days since Monday night)

--

"So you're calling me at," James paused then continued, "5 am on a Saturday to tell me I have to be ready by 9 tonight just to go to a party?"

Even though I was pretty tired, I had a perfectly good reason for staying up so early. Taylor and I had been texting all night. We went from topic to topic. Like the fact that he loves bagels and actually loves to draw.

Somewhere in the midst of our sleepless conversation, I mentioned wanting to take James to a party to get his mind off of Ana. Yes, I did in fact inform Taylor of everything that had happened between his sister and James. He said he would talk to her about it and that there was a party going on at Damon's house again. I immediately called James to tell him about it.

"Yes, I am in fact calling you at five am to tell you to be ready tonight." I said, happily.

"I really don't wanna see people, period." I heard him groan.

I rolled my eyes and switched the phone from my left ear to my right. Leaning back against my wall while sitting on my bed, I spoke.

"You do realize you haven't walked out of your house since Monday right? That's not something to be proud of James. You're like a damn.....a damn..." I trailed off, realizing my comparison was a huge fail.

"A damn what Hayles?" You could tell he was smiling from the sound of his voice.

"A damn zombie....." I mumbled then added, "But that doesn't really make sense."

We both laughed at my mistake for a good minute before I started to speak again.

"No but seriously James, you need to be social. This is exactly how you acted when your ex, Brooke, cheated on you. I didn't know what to do then so it took you forever to heal from it. But, now I know what I have to do to get you to heal faster! Which is, take you out."

It was the honest truth. When his ex had cheated on him, I didn't know what the heck to do. I had no clue as to how to help James. He stayed inside his house for days. It was heartbreaking.

But this time, I knew that in order to get him healed quickly I was going to have to force him out of his house and to different places. I honestly didn't care if the park was one of them, either.

"What if taking me out doesn't help Hayles? What if I'm sick of being cheated on?" He said, tiredly.

I frowned. "James..."

"No Hayley, I'm truly tired of it. Can't you tell? Why go out and meet someone if they're just going to hurt you?" He didn't wait for me to answer. "I swear its as if people have no fucking feelings anymore."

"You met me and I haven't hurt you." I commented.

He let out a sigh. "Relationship wise, Hayles. I just don't get it... I'm a good guy. What did I ever do to deserve this?"

Rubbing my hand over my forehead, sighing, I said, "Maybe you can go out and not be serious about anyone you meet. You can go to a party, meet a girl and then forget about her. If you happen to meet a girl who gives you a good impression, keep her in the back of your head. Now, I am not saying immediately go for her. Im just saying its good to have some options."

After a moment of taking all of it in, James spoke. "Okay. I can only try." He paused then asked, "So you said nine right?"

I smiled, proud that I was able to convince my best friend to get over an ex.

"Yes. Nine, sharp. We'll be there to pick you up."
