A week passed by and it was time to finally say goodbye to Lana. Once again. We were standing by her car. "Text me when you get home okay?" I leaned in and hugged her. She hugged me tightly and replied. "Of course. It was so good seeing you Hayles. Gosh, I am going to miss you. Hell, I haven't even left and I miss you already!" We both laughed and finally pulled apart. She got into her car and cut it on. After she was done settling in, she beeped and began to back up. I waved at her.

Soon enough, she was out of sight and I was sighing while turning to go inside. I shut the front door behind me and called out for mom. While Lana and I were talking earlier, the house was quiet. It made me wonder. "Mom?" I repeated. After waiting a couple of minutes to get a response and not getting one, I made my way to my moms bedroom.

Opening the door, I whispered, "Mom?" No response. Weird. I decided to pull my phone out of my pocket and dial her number. After four rings she picked up.

"Hayles?" My moms voice sent a wave of relief through me.

"Mom? Where are you??" I heard a guys voice in the background. After a moment of whispers, mom spoke.

"Don't worry, I just needed to get out of the house.." I let out a sigh. "Hayles, its midnight. Why aren't you asleep?" I rolled my eyes.

"It's summer," I stated, "No one goes to sleep early." She laughed.

"Right, I forgot about that. Text me if you need me."

An idea popped into my head and I blurted it out, "Actually, I think I am gonna head out for a bit." She was silent then let out a worried sigh. I began to speak before she did. "Yes, I know. Make sure to keep in contact with you, lock the house doors, take some sort of weapon, and drive safely. I've got it all down." Again, she laughed. "Love you."

"Love you too, mom."

Sitting in my car, it came to my realization that I barely knew this area and that I really had no idea where I would be going. Real smart of me to think on spot, huh? I mentally face palmed myself. In that moment, I had two options.

Option 1, go back into the house and fall sleep. Option 2, risk my life, cross the road and knock on Taylor's door.

Out of all honesty, I was embarrassed at the thought of me asking Taylor where places were here. What if he didn't answer the door? What if he didn't remember me? Hayles, go knock on his door.

I let out a breath and cut my engine off. This is a bad idea, I thought as I opened my door and stepped out, closing the door behind me.

"Holy shit!" The words spilled out of my mouth. My heart was pounding.

Taylor laughed but then stopped abruptly when he noticed I was glaring at him. "What?"

"You! Wait, what are you doing in my yard?"

Over the past week, Taylor had stopped me multiple times to talk. We usually ended up talking for about 10 minutes but I didn't mind because he was actually a very funny guy.

"Funny thing is, I came over to see what you were doing inside your running car on a Saturday night at," He checked his watch, with a smirk plastered on his face, "12 am."

"You were spying on me?"

He put his hand on his chest and spoke, exaggerating, "Who? Me?? No!"

I couldn't help but roll my eyes. His dramatic tone was hilarious.

"No but seriously. What are you doing?" I asked.

"I wasn't lying, Hayley." He crossed his arms. I took a moment to fully look at him then. He basically towered over me. His brown hair looked black at night. The street lights barely touched his dark brown eyes. He was wearing a black t-shirt and pants. With his arms crossed, he looked hot. I blushed.
