<Skyler's POV>
As a thank you for making me Chris's made of honor I am buying her a dress. I don't have a lot of money, but whatever I have is going towards Chris's happiness. Dally is pitching in a bit to, along with Darry. Chris and Soda told everyone about the wedding last night. Now it's the day before the wedding which leads us little room for prep, but we don't need time.
Invited is, the gang, me, Buck, Tim, and Curly Shepard. It's small and it'll be held behind the Curtis house, so while Dally, Chris, and me are shopping for clothes, Darry is cooking and baking, and everyone else is cleaning up the backyard. Dally insisted he come shopping with us so Chris wouldn't buy any dress that was to inappropriate.
We rush out of the Curtis house and hop in Darry's truck. Within five minutes, we have arrived at a cheap used bridal gown store. When we open the door I except to smell mold, but instead smell fresh flowers.
As Chris and Dally go with their own attendant to find dresses another guy helps me find my own nice dress. My assistant smells of roses and looks like he's gotten some plastic surgery. The way his skin is pulled back and his nose looks oddly shaped. He is very pushy and since I'm stubborn, we don't get along very well.
"But this one is gorgeous!" He insists. I sigh.
"I really don't like it! Don't you have like black?" I plead. He rolls his eyes in disgust. "Look the only way I am going to wear a goddy dress is if it is black so chop chop!" I demand. The man finally concedes and runs into the back of the store to find something black. When he returns in his hands is a silky black maxi dress with a plunging neckline that is even too extravagant for my taste.
"Don't object, this is the only black dress in our store," he informs me. We go to the changing room and I slip into the dress with ease. I was right. The neckline is really low. Dally is going to be pissed, but this is what I'm wearing so he'll have to suck it up.
I walk out to the showing platform next to Chris who is wearing a simple white dress that really complements her age and style. Before I can even admire how gorgeous she looks Dallas widens his eyes at me and walks up to me.
"What. The. Hell. Is. That?" He asks while crossing his arms angrily.
"The only black dress here, do you like it?" I ask smirking.
"That's the problem, if I Like it so will other guys like Two-Bit!" Dally shouts. In a panic Dally starts to suggest different dresses, while my assistant calls over some more people to help him do my hair to make Dally feel better. Then Chris joins the crowd around me trying to pull the dress around to make it less revealing. All the people crowding me and chattering remind me off when I was in the city while I was running away.
It was a cold night and a few guys had jumped me. They tugged at my hair and messed around with my clothes. I barely made it out of there without being raped. All the sudden, I forget that these people are harmless and they become my enemy. They are no longer my friend, lover, and dress assistants. I start to shake and breathe heavily, but no one notices. With a clouded mind I thrust my fist at the first face I find.
Everyone stops crowding me and gasps. My mind comes back to reality and I see Dally on the floor with a bloody nose.
"What the hell Skyler?" Dallas yells. I begin to shake more, so I throw the money for the dress on the floor and then run out of the bridal salon with the dress still on. Chris calls out for me from inside the store, but I ignore her and keep running. I don't know why, but it's like the sudden blast from my past has made me incapable of processing things the same way. Tired and breathing heavily, I stop at an alley and slide down to the ground. Tears start to flow down my face in a river that will end as soon as this nightmare called life does.
