Atsushi dragged his strained feet up the stairs of the apartment building, checking over every last detail in his mind . Everything in his head repeating itself over and over again on a spiraling loop, until he reached his apartment door.

He was reluctant to step back into his room. Just staring at it made Atsushi the slightest bit uncomfortable . Eventually Atsushi found the courage to jam the key in the doornob ,extending the door wide open. The first thing Atsushi laid his eyes on upon opening the door was a dark, slim figure , standing in the middle of Atsushi's room. He tensed up in fear as the figure quickly spanned its attention to the boy that had just welcomed himself in. Straight away Atsushi recognized the figure's face. It was  the man Atsushi knew as Ryunoske Akutagawa . The pale ,white skin. The piercing black eyes. The fine, fading hair. There was no mistaking it.

"I-its.. you... The man in the photo!" Atsushi stated, his voice trembling with every known word.

"You're talking...to me? " Akutagwa replied, acting as if he had no recalection of what was being addressed to him.

"Yes you! You were in the photo I found in that box! " Atsushi blurted out, he sounded rather enthusiastic about the entire thing.

Atsushi flinched, snapping out of his shocked, paralyezed state. He then started frantically searching for something. At last Atsushi had pulled the photo out of one of his shirt pockets and held it out as if to prove its very existence.

"Ahh yes, I am fully aware that you know of me. I am just confused...Humans aren't usually able to see spirits and ghosts with the naked eye. So this is just a rather...odd experience ." Akutagawa revealed.

"You're...A ghost?!" Atsushi yelled, practically coughing up each of his jumbled words.

"Oh...I supposed this may come as a bit of a shock to you..Allow me to explain" Akutagawa went on.

"You see I died in this residence 45 years ago. Meaning that this is where I reside until I qualify as ready to move onto the next life, which can only happen when I am completely forgotten by the living, or until I have fulfilled my desires as a spirit. Unfortunately, you had to come along and mess things up .  "

"What..how did I mess things up for you?" Atsushi murmered cluelessly .

"Er..Humans..Always with such febile and foolish minds. You see, I had almost been completely forgotten by the living. Meaning I would have finally, truly been able to end my cruel time on this Earth ,and fade away peacefully . But no, you had to come along and find that photo of me . So now, since you are aware of my essence ,I can no longer move onto the next life." Akutagawa snareled with an annoyed expression .

"Oh...well...maybe that's a good thing then. You don't seem controlled enough to move onto the next life . Try moving on once you can be a tad bit more polite to people for a change ! Tsk tsk.." Atsushi snapped back.

"Why...Damn you little brat! Do you have any idea how long I have waited for that moment ?! You should get no say in wether or not you qualify me as 'controlled ' enough to move onto the next life! I had to live through enough hell when I was alive , and waiting around, alone with nothing but my own thoughts for 45 years... That did nothing but worsen that hell.." Akutagawa shared out of a burst in rage. His hands were clenched tightly, yet his face remained snowy white,  not a single drop of sweat nor tears dropped from his face, and his body temperature stayed in the cold state of lifelessness.

"I...apoligize . I was being irrational. Please, forgive me." Atsuhsi empathized .

He knew what hell was like, and he hated to see other people have to go through it alone.

"Save your apology for when you truly mean it." Akutagawa uttered.

Atsushi sighed a breath of uncertainty. Slowly, he approached the young ghost.

"Get away from me. I want nothing to do with you unless it involves your demise. Then again being accompanied by you in the afterlife would drive me over the edge." Akutagawa mumbled harshly.

However this did not stop Atsushi ,infact he kept appering closer and closer to the troubled spirit. Then, without hesitation Atsushi leaned forward to embrace the boy, ultimately failing in the process, and falling right through his transparent body, and face first onto the ground. Right away Akutagawa started cackling at the boy on the floor.

"HAHAHAHAHA !!! You should have seen your face! You looked so stupid! Maybe next time don't try hugging something that's actually there! "

Atsushi swiftly got up,blushing immensely, and ran into his bedroom, locking the door. He felt loads of emotions but it was difficult to pinpoint one. It was unfair, it didn't make any sense to him at all. He felt embarrassed, flustered ,angry, and even a little bit of pleasure from making the ghost boy smile.  He planted his head into his pillow and laid there alone. Eventually he rolled over to find Auktagawa's face nearly five inches above his own. Instantly his face turned beet red.

"AGHH! H-how did you get in here I was sure I locked the door!!" Atsushi spoke up in shock.

"Jeez calm down I'm a ghost remember? I can walk through just about anything, including doors." Auktagawa reinformed Atsushi.

"Ah..Right.."

Auktagawa stood back up straight after hoovering over Atsushis face.

"Theres no need to get that close you know...personal space is a thing ." Atsushi recited .

"Says the one who was intentionally going to hug a literal ghost." Akutagawa teased back.

The two continued on talking for hours ,teasing and lightly bullying each other every so often as well. Surprisingly ,even though they found several differences about one another, they were very alike in the same ways. For most of their conversation Atsushi couldn't take his eyes off of the spirit next to him.  He was captured by every defining feature on his face.

"So your saying you followed me all the way in the city, eve's dropped on me and my friend, and watched me every single  day because you had absolutely nothing better to do?" Speculated Atsushi.

"More less. I've gotta say, you live a pretty boring life." Akutagawa snickered, teasing Atsushi once more.

"Well thanks..Gosh would it kill you to be just a little nice for once?...Dont answer that.." Atsushi justified .

"Being kind has gotten nobody anywhere in life dear Atsushi." Akutagawa  accepted .

"As a matter of fact it has sir Akutagawa." Atsushi shot back at him, trying to prove his point.

"Oh really? I have yet to witness such a miracle .Name one time being kind has benefited someone in any way ,shape, or form" Akutagawa challenged the white haired boy.

"It's saved my life." Atsushi assured the spirit.

"Go on." Auktagawa commented.

" Whenever I was at the deepest points in my life, a certain person talked me through many times where I had come close to losing my own life because of myself. " Atsushi explained mourningly .

"I see. Well then allow me to change my old sentiment . " Opted Auktagawa . "Not once has kindness or any good deed as of such has benefited my life in any way."

"Well I can change that. As long as you are willing to accept my kind deeds that is." Atsushi communicated, staring directly into the spirits pitch black eyes, full of rich, pure, strong intent .
