The door to Atsushi's apartment swung open, and an exhausted young boy entered the room. He sighs and plops himself on the couch chair promptly. The chair practically begs his name. He can hear it, "Atsushi...Atsushi!" What's this? It almost sounds legitimate. The words sound like someone's calling his name in the real world. But maybe he's just hallucinating. Yeah, that's it. He's drained, after all. Although, something about this voice sounds oddly familiar, like a particular apparition he happens to live with. Atsushi picks himself up from the chair and begins snooping around, curious as to what this sound could be. Phrases like "I'm being silly" and "This is probably just my imagination playing tricks on me" run through his mind as he searches his small loft for the source of the voice.
He eventually traces this desperate voice back to his bedroom. Atsushi was admittedly nervous and slightly shaken as he pondered what could be on the other side of the door. But his profuse curiosity wouldn't let it go. As he reaches for the door handle, his heart rate speeds up rapidly, and his hands shake with anticipation. His hand landed on the door's handle at last, and with courage, he cracked the door open.

Akutagawa was rather busy echoing Atsuhsi's name when he unexpectedly heard the knob to the door jiggling, signaling that someone intended to get in. Akutagawa suddenly stopped what he was doing, springing up from his laid-back posture. His face offered worry and panic. Akutagawa's eyes skimmed around the small room as he desperately searched for a way out.
The door veered open, a loud bang expelling all traces of silence as the door slammed against the wall. A troubled Atsushi barged in, inspecting every nook and cranny of the room for a single answer to this puzzling mystery.
"Ugh! Dammit! Am I going insane?" Atsushi noisily thought aloud, the thought of giving up lingered in his irritated voice.
Atsushi let out a breath of pent-up stress before he tumbled onto his bed. Comfort and warmth seeped from the bed's marshmallow-soft touch. As Atsushi cuddled the cloud-like pillows in his bed, he felt the reassuring sense of being watched over, as if being protected by a guardian angel. Atsushi rolled on his side, closing his sleepy eyes. Not long after getting used to the fluffy surroundings, he attempted to fall into a peaceful and deserved slumber.
Next to him lay a guilty man, one with dark hair and frosted tips. A gentle smile rests on his pale face. His presence is left unknown, his heart race not, for he had none to beat. He bit his lip, and his gaze fixed on the back of Atsuhsi's scalp, where his off-white, almost grey hair remained untouched. Akutagawa felt the impulsive urge to touch, perhaps overlooking the restricting conditions his transparent body was bound by.
He reached out oh-so-slightly. His frozen fingertips were so close to Atsushi's messy locks. After a few minutes of contemplation, he ventured his fingers, hoping even just a strand of Atsuhsi's hair could be touched, which had a similar consistency as fur rather than normal hair. Despite his attempt, his forgetfulness caused him to fail, and his fingers grazed straight through Atsushi's head. Taken aback, Akutagawa froze in fear, awaiting the following few moments. "What the-?!" As Atsushi felt an icy chill shudder down his spine, he popped right out of his bed and onto his feet. Akutagawa was shunned on the opposing side of the bed, avoiding the impending eye contact he dreaded ever so.
"A-akutagawa?" Atsushi exhaled his built up tension, he almost seemed...relieved?
"I can explain-"
"No, it's fine. I understand what's going on."
"Y-you do?"
At this point Akutagawa grew fearful that he was going to be exposed for his filthy acts and shamed. However this theory had yet to be proven.
"Yeah...You still feel bad for what happened today at the park, so you're trying to make it up to me. Isn't that right?" Perhaps Atsushi's best friend was a nifty mystery solver, but Atsushi had a few difficulties when it came to deciphering the truth of things on his own. However, Akutagawa quickly adapted to this blessed opportunity.
"Right... that's what happened." Akutagawa muttered, finding it hard to confess to such a thing even if he was lying.
Atsushi gently smiled. Sympathetic and soft, his smile was. "Why didn't you just ask to cuddle and make up? It's not like I would've said no, " Atsushi rubbed his nape, now avoiding eye contact. Akutagawa was not anticipating such a sentence, although he couldn't help but be pleased by Atsushi's answer. "You...wouldn't mind that?" Akutagawa stared up at Atsushi. He was still significantly surprised at the reply.
"Unless you've changed your mind! If you want the bed to yourself tonight, that's fine. I'm sure Ranpo wouldn't mind if I crashed at his place tonight." Atsushi offered kindly, still thinking of others before himself as always.
Akutagawa lifted an eyebrow. "You do know ghosts don't need sleep, right? We aren't exactly needy when it comes to human necessities. Plus, Ranpo and Poe just got engaged, did they not? I'm sure they're busy tonight anyways."
Atsushi sighed, scratching his head awkwardly. "You make a good point...So...does this mean you still want to...uh...y'know..."
"Cuddle? There are no restrictions on the word Atsushi. It is foolish of you to be so nervous over two measly syllables." Akutagawa interrupted Atsushi, stuck up and inconsiderate, much, unlike Atsushi. Atsushi flinched negligibly, finding himself victim to Akutagawa's insolence. Akutagawa puffed, believing that Atsushi was overreacting. However, in truth, Akutagawa felt the same. Too insecure to reveal his desperation for acceptance and fervency.
"Well...I don't suppose it would hurt..." Akutagawa mumbled, just enough to were Atsushi could hear him.
"Really? Well, I suppose there's no fighting it." Atsushi sighs, sitting on the edge of the bed. "You want this?" He looked up from the ground, dragging his eyes up to better look at Akutagawa's face.
"W-what makes you think its that big of a deal? Its j-just hugging and stuff..." Akutagawa scoffed.
"Ehe...I don't expect this to be your first time, right?" Atsushi asked without warning, which seemed to be the straw that broke the camel's back, and Akutagawa's snapped.
"J-just get over here you weakling!"
Atsushi giggled and crashed back on the bed. And though he could not feel the spirit lying next to him physically, his heart just knew; This felt right.
(im sorry this chapter sucked I had a really busy day-)
