On Thursday, Samaira got an email from the university in Malaysia about the scholarship letter. She was accepted. So she had to go to the post office to collect her acceptance letter and sign.
She was beyond happy to know that she got the scholarship. That too in Biochemistry! At first she wasn't believing her eyes. She never thought she would get it! She had just taken a chance.
She prayed two rakats nafal prayer, thanking Allah right away. She thought about telling everyone after getting the letter in hand. The next day, she prayed Zuhr and had her lunch early to go to the post office. She kept Hannan's medicines on the bedside table with a note and also reminded him before leaving. Hannan had ulcer problems. So he had to take medication to keep his stomach healthy. Usually Samaira always gives him his medicines, so today she kept them with a note so that he doesn't forget when she will be out.
She got ready and got out of the house telling her parents that she had some work in the library. She actually had though. She first went to the library to collect a book on chemistry Sahil had told her to bring. She prayed Asr there itself. And then she went to the post office to collect the letter. Her letter needed a confirmation sign so she had to go inside the manager's office. She had already kept her phone on silent in the library so she didn't had to silent her phone again, so she didn't take it out from her bag.
She took the letter and opened it. Her eyes welled up while reading it. She kept thanking Allah a million times in her mind. She got out of the post office with a big smile on her face.
It was evening already, she was walking towards her home with an intention to make everyone happy and proud.
She rang the doorbell and the door opened,
"Assalamualaikum!", she said cheerfully but her smile died soon.
Because there was standing a very irritated Sara.
"Where were you di? Why weren't you picking up your phone?", she asked loudly.
"Why? What happened? Is everything okay?", Samaira was panicking now.
"Nothing's okay di. Abbu forgot to have his medicines, now he is vomiting and having stomach ache."
"What!" Samaira's face became pale.
She ran inside, keeping her bag on the table. When she went inside she saw her father lying on the bed. He didn't look good. Her mother was sitting beside him, crying.
"Samaira! You're back! Please do something. You're abbu is in pain beta (dear)," Farida said as soon as she saw her.
"I-", Samaira's mind went blank for a second.
Sahil was at college. Usually, after Samaira, Sahil is the most calm one. He could have helped a ton at this moment.
The ring of Farida's phone broke her trance. She went to the dinning room at once and got her phone to call their family doctor. She saw there were numerous missed calls from Sara and Farida. She had forgotten that she had put her phone on silent in the library.
Anyway, she called their family doctor and the doctor told her to keep a heat pad on his stomach and suggested the name of a medicine to reduce the stomach pain for now. She wrote it down on a paper. The doctor also said that there was nothing to worry about, but she was not in a state of mind to take in the positive words.
Anyhow, she took her purse and rushed to the door to get the medicine after telling Sara about the heat pad.
When Samaira opened the door, she saw Zain standing there. She was confused to see him here all of a sudden. She has been ignoring him since the incident at the hill station, but right now, the only thing in her mind was her father.
