"YOU?!"
Two surprised voices resonated together.
It was Ariz Shah.
Anika's cousin, Safia's arch enemy, the guy who misunderstood Omar to be Samaira's boyfriend, yes, that Ariz was standing at Samaira's doorstep.
"What are you doing here?", both asked at the same time after a few seconds of shock.
"I live here."
"My parents are here."
Both spoke at the same time.
"What?", again, both scrunched their eyebrows in confusion.
"Um, my parents told me we were invited here, is the address right?", Ariz showed Samaira his phone.
"Yeah," Samaira nodded with furrowed eyebrows.
"So, you invited me?", Ariz asked with a smirk.
"What? No! Wait, are you-..... you're Mrs. Shah's son?", realisation dawned upon her.
"Well, I'm Ariz Shah. So, yeah, you can call my mom Mrs. Shah," he shrugged.
Samaira was still thinking, standing at the door, when Farida came there,
"Who is it beta?", she asked but when she saw Ariz her face broke into a smile,
"Oh, you must be Ariz! Come in come in," she ushered him in,
"Where are your manners these days, Samaira?", and glared at her daughter.
Samaira pouted at her mother but came inside anyway, after closing the door.
"Assalamualaikum aunty," Ariz said with a cheeky smile.
"Walaikumassalam beta. You're more handsome than your picture," Farida patted his cheeks lovingly.
"That I am, aunty," Ariz laughed.
Samaira was standing with scrutinising gaze at the scene in front of her. A lot of things were going on in her mind.
Ariz is Mrs.Shah's son? It means Mrs.Shah is Anika's aunt? She is the one who was pressurizing her for marriage? Uhhh, I don't like her already then. Wait, I shouldn't judge her. But-
"Aren't you gonna come?", Ariz asked her with raised eyebrows.
"Huh?", Samaira's trance broke, it took her sometime to take in the situation,
"Yeah," she started to walk towards the living room, suddenly stopped and turned,
"By the way, I didn't invite you, Abbu invited Mr. and Mrs.Shah, didn't know you'd come along," Samaira was trying not to be rude towards the Shahs knowing they put Anika in such a situation, yet, she sounded somewhat rude. She entered the living room, with a confused Ariz trailing behind.
After some chatting and having snacks, Mrs.Shah insisted that Samaira shows Ariz around, and her parents encouraged her. So, now they were seating at the backyard, Ariz was gazing at the posies Farida had planted and Samaira was scrolling through her phone, trying to seem busy.
Earlier when Samaira had asked Mrs.Shah if she was Anika's aunt, she only replied in affirmative with a disappointed look and changed the subject, making Samaira frown. Mrs.Shah was eagerly trying to know about the friendship between Ariz and Samaira but ended up being highly disappointed when Samaira clearly denied any friendship between them.
"Do you know why we're here today?", Ariz asked breaking Samaira's thinking process.
"Well, Abbu knew you're parents, and since they came to our native country, he invited you guys being the social person he is," she shrugged.
