The next morning Samaira had her breakfast and got ready. After deliberating a lot, and her mother's strict order to at least try to look like a newly wed, she decided to wear a floral kurti she had from Pakistan. She also wore slight make up to satisfy her mom's desi dil.
With other accessories, she also wore the bracelet Zain had gifted her before going to Malaysia.
She heard the bell while taking out her sandals and then Sara called her downstairs saying Zain had come.
She put on her sandals and went down. She didn't know why, but she had a giddy feeling, going in front of Zain after their Nikah, all decked up.
Zain was talking to Farida when he heard a soft Salam. He looked at the source and for a moment he forgot to breath. He never thought his wife could look better than their Nikah, but oh was he wrong! She looked literally breathtaking in the two greatest colours!
And also, his lawful rights to gaze at her freely wasn't really letting him look away.
"Bhai, she said Salam to you, won't you answer?", Sahil's voice broke his trance.
Zain cleared his throat and looked away for a second,
"Walaikumassalam," and said with a small nod. Then an awkward silence prevailed which was pretty amusing to Sahil. He wanted to tease them more, but Farida cut him,
"Well, come on, let me take a picture of you guys! You guys look so good!""Ammi!", Samaira whispered with wide eyes which was royally ignored by her mother.
"Come on, stand closer you two!", Sahil also cheered.
Samaira sighed at her crazy family and turned to see a hopeful Zain looking at her.
She then went to him and stood beside him, keeping her coat on the couch.
After the first click, Samaira felt her husband's hand around her shoulder and she looked at him with wide eyes in shock at such blatant behaviour in front of her family! Maybe she had really forgotten for a second there that they're married. That's when Farida clicked again.
"Come on now ammi, they're getting late! Let them go now!", Sara came to the rescue.
"Yeah, we should. Allah Hafiz aunty, we'll be back by 9 InShaAllah," Zain said handing Samaira her coat as if out of habit.
"Oh, don't be silly dear, she's your wife now, you can come as late as you want!", Farida laughed.
"Ammi!", Samaira whispered again with wide eyes and pink cheeks. Zain also became a bit shy. The others just laughed.
They went to the car and Zain opened the door of the passenger seat for Samaira. She said a small thanks and got in. Zain also got in and they drove off.
Awkward silence prevailed in the car. Albeit things had been awkward between the both of them before their marriage as well, but the others around used to make it easy. They really didn't know what to talk about right now, more like they didn't know how to start a conversation. Because boy, could they chat up a conversation once they start talking! Maybe they don't realise but they can really easily talk to each other, just someone had to take the initiative. Well, Zain being the male in this situation convinced himself that typically he should take the first step.
