Next day Zain woke up late. So he got ready and left the house without having breakfast. When he was about get inside his car, he bumped into Samaira.
"Hey, Assalamualaikum! Today there's a meeting about that big project, right?" Samaira was going towards the metro when she saw him, so she asked casually.
He replied her Salam and just hummed uninterested while opening the car.
"Best of luck! InShaAllah you guys will get it,"
she again said with a smile, ignoring his behaviour. He again hummed, got in the car and drove away. Not even sparing her another single glance.
Samaira stood there dumbfounded.
What's wrong with him? Oh, he's late. But....whatever. Ya Allah keep him safe and give him whatever is best for him.
She sent a quick prayer and went towards the highscool with a slight frown.
Zain hit the steering wheel in frustration.
How could you ignore her like that? She was not at fault at all! You're such a jerk!
His mind was taunting him. And he knew it was right. He shouldn't have behaved like that with her. He will apologise to her soon. But right now, he has to think about the deal.Yesterday it was so much more important to him to get the deal; now, it's also important, but just for their company's betterment. Whatever it is, he has to work hard to bag the deal.
So, shaking every other thoughts he entered their office, not before sending a quick prayer to Allah.Samaira was kind of absent minded the whole time at her job which didn't go unnoticed by Ayesha. She had also given Ayesha the book that Zain had left and didn't even ask her anything about it. Ayesha thought Samaira was upset because of the proposal that came. She was upset thinking about Zain. Ayesha also got upset that her plan didn't work out. So, after their work, she took Samaira to a cafe to confront her.
Last night, after the Shah's went away, Farida had told Samaira about the proposal. Samaira was mad at the Shahs first, how could they do this to Anika. But then she clearly denied her parents. She told them the truth about Ariz having feelings for Anika. Her parents were understanding. They were also hoping that she says no, they really didn't want to send their daughter to another country, away from them. Also, they might have someone in their mind for her.
"So, What's wrong?," Ayesha asked
Samaira after ordering coffee for them."Huh? Nothing," Samaira shook her head.
"Yeah. As if you can lie to my face and I won't know," Ayesha rolled her eyes at her best friend's try.
"Is it about the proposal? Wait, was it a proposal?", Ayesha totally forgot to ask Samaira about last night's incident.
Although maybe because deep down she had faith that Zain would have handled everything.
"Yes it was, bu-" Samaira couldn't finish because Ayesha started to yell,
"WHAT?! Tell me you said no! But wait, who was the boy? Doesn't matter, just say no! You hear me?", Ayesha couldn't see her best friend with someone else than Zain. She knew pairs are already made by Allah, but she prayed for them everyday.
"God woman! Stop screaming! We're in a cafe!", Samaira stopped her and looked around while mouthing sorry to the customers around them, who were looking at them with amusement.
"Doesn't matter, tell me!", Ayesha was more curious than anything to know every single detail.
"The guy was a class mate and a mutual friend from Malaysia. And yes, I already said NO," Samaira glared at Ayesha, which she ignored.
