Chapter 11

Nagising ako na wala ni Calen sa villa. Pumunta na pala siya sa business meeting niya at bukas pa siya uuwi dahil marami raw silang pag-uusapan.

Naiwan ako sa villa nang mag-isa kasama ang mga kasambahay rito. Plano ko sanang mag-swimming kaso biglang lumamig kaya hindi na natuloy.

Pagkababa ko ay mayroon ng nakahandang pagkain para sa akin. I woke up around 6:30 pm. Hindi na rin ako ginising ni Calen.

I was really bored. Wala akong makausap, so I decided to go out. Hindi na rin ako makatulog kahit 9 na rin ng gabi. The wind was breezy. Mabuti na lang at may hoodie na sinama si Cecil kaya sinuot ko 'yon.

I was busy looking at the stars when one of the housemaids gave me her phone.

"Sir Morgan wants to talk to you." she had her amazing Italian accent. She looks pretty too.

"Lav?" I heard Calen's voice.

Nabuhay kaagad ang dugo ko. "Calen!" I was excited for no reason. "Why did you call? What are you doing?"

Bigla siyang tumahimik sa kabilang linya. "Calen?" I called his name.

"Hmmm..." he sounded sleepy.

We arrived here early in the morning. He said he couldn't sleep at all during the entire flight. Pagdating naman dito sa villa ay hindi ko rin siya nakitang natulog. He must be really tired.

"Just keep talking,"

"Anong oras ka uuwi bukas?" Napanguso ako sa tanong ko. Mamaya sabihin niya hinahanap ko siya.

"I don't know," ang ikli lang ng sagot niya.

"Tapos na meeting niyo?"

"Hmmm," sagot niya ulit.

"Bakit 'di ka pa umuuwi? I'm bored."

"Miss me already?" Malalim ang kaniyang boses pero mahihimigan ko doon ang pag-aasar niya. I can even imagine him smirking.

"Ang kapal naman ng mukha mo, Calen! Just in case you forgot, you're the one who called! Baka ikaw ang nakaka-miss sa akin." umirap ako.

I heard him chuckle pagkatapos ay tumahimik ulit siya sa kabilang linya. Tiningnan ko ang cellphone at baka pinatayan na niya ako ng tawag, pero hindi naman pala.

I was about to speak when he spoke. "Let's have your checkup when we go back to the Philippines. Did you already have your checkup?" tanong niya.

"I did the urine test in the hospital. That's when the doctor concluded that I was pregnant, but I haven't done gestational sac nor asked for advice because I was planning for abortion." paliwanag ko.

"Alright. Let's have the proper checkup." aniya. "Don't forget to eat your food and sleep early. Don't run on the staircase. Always be careful, alright? If you need anything, tell the maids to call me, or you can ask them anything." Dagdag niya.

Napangiti ako. Calen will be a good father, that's for sure. Calen is really caring. Siguro ay dahil dala-dala ko ang anak niya.

"Yes, understand. I'll take care of your baby. Don't be afraid." tumawa ako.

There was a long silence between us. Narinig ko siyang bumuntong hininga.

"Lav, that's not it." malambot ang kaniyang boses.

I didn't get what he meant. Hindi tuloy ako nakapagsalita.

"I still have a lot to take care of. I need to hang up now," he spoke again.

"Okay," matamlay na sabi ko.

"Lav..." he called my name. He really sounded so exhausted. "...see you tomorrow," malumanay ang kaniyang boses. That was his last words before he ended up the call.
