Chapter 39

"I don't want to involve my child here, Morgan." I greeted my teeth. Nanginginig ako sa galit.

"I thought we already agreed to this, huh, Miss?" I don't like the sound of his voice. Mas lalo lang lumalaki ang galit ko sa kaniya.

"You can use me but not my child," I emphasized every word I spoke so he could feel my anger.

"Then, you're going to leave your child?" Pinagkrus niya ang mga braso. Calen is really testing my patience.

Natahimik ulit ako at hindi alam ang sasabihin. The anger I was trying my best to hold in was slowly eating me up. Parang kahit anong segundo lang ay sasabog na ako at baka magwala na ako rito.

"Why can't you hire someone else? Mayaman ka naman, ah. Marami kang puwedeng kunin bukod sa akin na pupuwedeng magpanggap. Or are you just doing all of these because you want me to suffer, huh? Gaano ba kasama ang ginawa ko sa'yo dati at pinapahirapan mo ako?"

"I am not trying to make you suffer. In fact, I'm helping you to settle this easier." Malamig na sabi niya na mas lalong nagpatindi pa ng galit ko. "And if I would get someone to act other than you, then what's the purpose of our deal? I can get someone else, but does it mean we would continue the lawsuit?"

Paano niya itong kayang gawin? Pupuwede naman siyang tumanggi sa pagpupumilit ng mga magulang niya, ah? Bakit kailangan pang ako? Para saan? Bakit hindi si Amara?

"Why don't you just let it slide? Tangina naman. We were just fooling back then. Bakit hindi si Amara—"

"Fucking hell," He cut me off. His eyes became darker while staring at my eyes. Ramdam na ramdam ko ang galit sa mga mata niya.

"I was serious about you back then. " Mabilis niyang sinuklay ang buhok gamit ang mga daliri. His face hardened. "It never crossed my mind to fool around."

It made me speechless again. Wala akong salita na mahanap para sabihin. All I could do was stare at his cold and angered eyes.

"Why 700 million? You initiated to shoulder all the expenses! Bakit mo ngayon sinusumbat iyan, ha?! You bought all of that because you initiated!—"

"Not until you terminated the contract and left me alone!"

Napakurap ako. My jaw dropped because of what I heard from him. It left me speechless. Wala akong masabi kung hindi ang tumanganga lang sa harapan niya.

I did that for the best! For us! For all of us! Hindi naman iyon madali sa akin! I did that because everyone was suffering because of me!

My heart throbbed when I remembered the memories that I had tried so hard to forget over the past years. The memory of Calen kneeling in front of me, begging and crying. I remembered his everyday texts that almost broke me. I remembered his effort going to the hospital to give me flowers. And I remembered suddenly that I was the reason why he had that scar on his forehead.

"If you keep being skeptical about this, then it's much better that we continue the lawsuit. Madali naman akong kausap. I don't want you to develop hard feelings just because of this."

"Fuck you..." I whispered. I couldn't argue with him. Parang na-blangko ang isip ko at wala na akong masabi pa.

Calen just smirked. "Why are you so skeptical about this? I don't get it. You're just going to pretend and stick by my side for 7 months. Pitong buwan lang naman."

"You're crazy..." I said with heavy breathing.

"You just need to act. Why do you oppose so much? Bakit, may magagalit ba?" He smirked again, but I could feel the anger in his voice.
