"N-No! This can't be happening!" Halos magwala ako dahil sa narinig ko.

My cries echoed in the whole delivery room. I was about to get up on the hospital bed, but one of the nurses stopped me. Hinawakan din ni Lexie ang braso ko nang magpumilit akong tumayo.

"Ma'am, calm down!" Sabi ng nurse.

"How can I fucking calm down?!" Sigaw ko sa nurse. She was not making a fucking sense.

"Don't move yet, Lav!" Nag-aalalang sabi niya sa akin.

My whole body was aching, and I could feel the pain down there, but I was more worried about my child than myself. I was catching my breath because of crying so hard. I couldn't breathe. The nurse put oxygen on me, but it didn't stop me from crying and yelling.

"L-Lexie, tell them to save my baby!" Tears pooled my eyes. Malakas ang hikbi ko.

Before Lexie could open her mouth, a weak cry of a baby silenced the whole room. My sobs became harder because of relief after I heard it. The heaviness in my chest slowly lifted as I kept hearing the cry that seemed to be music in my ears.

"She made it!" The doctor said and sighed and relief.

Naiyak sa tuwa si Lexie sa narinig. "Heard that, Lav?" She wiped her tears.

My eyes became blurry while trying to look at my child lying on the bassinet while the nurse was putting oxygen on her. A small smile plastered on my lips before my eyelid became heavier. I was catching my breath after I calmed down, and the next thing I knew, I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

My baby stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks. She was tube-fed her milk for two weeks because she didn't know how to suck yet. Her immune system was too weak during her first week. But the doctors did their best to make things work out for her. Other than that, there were no complications that happened.

But we stayed for another week. Ayaw kong umuwi. I wanted to make sure that everything was alright and that she was perfectly healthy. I was worried because of her low birth weight, but the doctors said it was perfectly normal because she was born prematurely.

After I gave birth, I suffered from postpartum fatigue. I could not work or do heavy things. I easily felt weak and always felt dizzy. Lexie shouldered all the expenses. Hiyang-hiya ako. I didn't know how to thank her because my 'thank you' was not enough for me to do.

"You don't have to worry about anything, Lav. Ako na ang bahala." Lexie affirmed me.

Lexie, for more than a year, shouldered all the expenses. Binenta niya ang ekta-ektaryang lupain para tulungan ako sa mga gastusin.

"Lexie, you don't have to do that, please." Nahihiyang sabi ko.

Lexie smiled at me after putting down all the paper bags of clothes and toys she bought for my daughter and me. "This is nothing! Ano ba! Besides, I want to spoil my inaanak. Right, baby?" She pinched my baby's nose. My daughter giggled.

"See? She likes it too!" Lexie gave her multiple kisses. "You're so pretty! Gosh! She deserves all these clothes and toys!" Aniya.

"I bought you new clothes, dresses, and shoes, too! And I, oh, bought our food already. You don't have to cook." She smiled at me.

Napatikom ako ng bibig. I didn't honestly know what to say. I was just too grateful to her to the point that I couldn't face her.

"Lexie—"

"This is really nothing, Lav. Stop worrying, common! I'm loaded now!" She chuckled. Hindi ulit ako nakaimik.

Only the three of us celebrated special events in our lives. I was contented and happy with us three.
