Chapter 23

Abraham looks at me and just stares. Eventually he grabs my hand and squeezes it causing me to actually look directly at him. He places his other hand lightly on my stomach.

"You didn't tell me you were pregnant Jess..."

"What does it matter? This baby might not grow up with a father. With his or her father. I can't let that happen," I respond with an eye roll.

"Jess. I am not going to let you think like that. Matt will survive," he says and looks down, "And you know what. If he doesn't, you're going to be one damn good mother all by yourself. I know you Jess! I've known you since we were two and a half. You're an amazing person. You're absolutely beautiful and this baby will love you to pieces. You have to be able to be strong. For them," he looks at me in the eyes as he points to my stomach. A few minutes of silence go by and he begins to speaks again. "Jess the last time I saw you was seven years ago. When you left that day, you left Isaiah and I behind. We didn't know what to do without you. And the day that I found out where you were, I rushed as soon as I could to get there. I wanted to be with you again. I couldn't wait to hug you. I couldn't wait to have you in my arms again. Losing you was terrible so you have to be strong. Not only for the baby but for me. Please."

"I will," is all I manage to make out before my eyes fall and I drift into a deep sleep.

I wake up and find myself still in the same place. The hospital. My doctor walks in and begins to hum. He soon notices that I am awake and decides to greet me.

"Hello Jessica! I'm backkkk and you're awake aren't you!" He says with a smirk. "Guess what!? I have some amazing news for you."

I open my eyes fully and look at him with anticipation.

"Matt will be okay! He is being released tomorrow morning as well as you! I am so very happy for you both! I hope you have amazing, peaceful, lives with the new baby coming. Speaking of which, you can schedule your first appointment with..." is all I hear before my mind takes a quick right turn and everything in the background becomes a blur. Matt will be okay. We will have our perfect little family and we will be okay. Everything is going to work out.
