26. Hide and Seek

"Well, it was lovely seeing you two again," Tessa said after they had finished their dinner and were at the gates of the L.A. Institute.

"It was nice seeing you too." Clary smiled, reaching over to hug each of them.

Jace did the same, except it was a hand shake with Jem.

"We'll let you guys go," Jem said, taking Tessa's hand.

Jace and Clary waved at the retreating couple.

Jace opened the door for Clary. "Ladies first."

Clary smiled and walked into the Institute.

"Hey, can you guys train with us?" Julian asked, coming up to them with Emma beside him.

"Yeah sure," Jace nodded.

Suddenly, they heard a crash interrupting whatever Julian was going to say next.

"That's probably Ty and Livvy," Julian sighed.

"We should go clean that up," Emma said.

"Do you guys want help?" Clary asked.

"No! That's okay, you guys just go relax," Emma said.

"Are you sure?" Clary asked.

"Positive," Julian said. "This type of thing happens all the time."

"Can we train tomorrow, though?" he asked.

"Of course." Jace nodded.

"See you tomorrow!" Emma said, walking away with Julian.

"See you tomorrow!" Clary called after them before going up the stairs with Jace.

Jace closed the door behind them and drew another locking rune and a sound proof rune.

He moved forward to kiss her, but Clary pulled away.

Jace looked at her, confused.

"If you want me, you got to catch me," Clary teased.

Jace smirked.

They ran around the bedroom playfully for a while, until Clary decided the room was too small for her to escape Jace, so she quickly un-locked the door and ran out.

She ran into the kitchen and saw Julian and Emma looking confused.

"Are you okay?" Emma asked worriedly.

"I'm running from Jace," Clary explained.

"We'll cover for you," Julian said.

"Thanks!" Clary said before bolting out of there.

A few minutes later Jace came running in. "Is Clary here?" he asked.

"No, but I think she went that way," Emma pointed in the opposite direction of where Clary went.

"Thanks," Jace said.

"Nothing to thank me for," Emma muttered after Jace ran out.

"I don't think he's going to find her any time soon," Emma said, watching Jace check in every room.

"Want to bet?" Julian asked.

"Twenty bucks says Jace can't find her within an hour," Emma said.

"Deal." Julian stuck out his hand.

"And no interfering," Emma said as she shook his hand.

"Fine," Julian said.

They watched Jace look for her, following him around the Institute.

Jace finally found her in only twenty minutes, but that was because she was talking to Livvy instead of hiding.

"Are you serious?" Emma exclaimed.

Jace and Clary turned to look at her.

"I'm not cleaning your room," Emma said to Julian like that was what she was exclaimed about, not wanting to say they were betting on them.

"Why not?" Julian played along.

"It's disgusting," Emma said.

"I'll clean it," Jace offered.

"Okay," Julian said happily.

Clary and Jace went to go clean up Julian's room while Emma handed Julian twenty bucks.

"Someone's cleaning my room for free and I got twenty bucks. Life is good." Julian smiled.

Emma glared at him.

Hi! Hope you liked it! Sorry if I didn't get Emma and Julian's personality's correct, I wrote this before TDA came out so I didn't really know their characters that well.
