If you aren't really familiar with pregnancy terms and you don't know what some of the words in this chapter mean, there will be some definitions at the bottom.

"You'll be fine, just keep it wrapped up for a while," Magnus said, wrapping Jace's wrist with bandages.

"Okay," Jace said.

"Heard you killed a demon with a pineapple," Alec said, walking into the infirmary.

"Yeah." Jace cracked a smile.

"Only you." Alec shook his head.

"If a regular pineapple is that useful in a fight, imagine if it Izzy had cooked something with that pineapple. That could be deadly," Jace said.

Alec tried to stop himself from laughing, but failed.

"What are you guys laughing about?" Izzy asked, walking into the infirmary.

"Your bad cooking skills," Jace replied bluntly.

Izzy narrowed her eyes at her brothers.

"It isn't that bad," Izzy muttered.

"Yes, it is!" both of them exclaimed.

Izzy rolled her eyes. "Whatever. I just came to tell you that Clary's awake."

"Oh okay." Jace stood up and dashed upstairs to Clary and his room.

"Hey," he greeted, closing the door behind him.

"Hey. Where did you go?" Clary asked.

Her eyes zeroed in on his arm. "What happened to your wrist?" she asked before he had the chance to answer her first question.

"I went to get you more pickles and Simon and I ran into some demons on the way back," Jace explained.

"Are you okay?" she asked, gently grabbing his arm to examine it once he got close enough.

"I'm fine," Jace reassured her.

"Found out that fruit is better at fighting than Simon," Jace joked.

Clary gave him a questioning look.

"Never mind." Jace shook his head.

He sat down next to her on the bed, careful not to jostle her too much.

"How are you feeling?" Jace put a tender hand on her stomach.

"I'm okay," Clary said, shifting a little bit.

Jace, noticing her move, immediately started fluffing her pillows and helped her relax.

"I'm fine, Jace." Clary reassured him for the millionth time that week. "I'm just getting a little big."

Before Jace could ask if she needed anything, again, there was a knock on the door. Simon popped his head in.

"Magnus told me to tell you that your mom is going into labor," he said.

"What?" Clary's head snapped up.

My mom's going in to labor! Clary thought. She supposed she shouldn't be so surprised, her mother's due date was two weeks ago. They had been expecting the baby for some time now, but still, just hearing it was so strange.

"I need to get up." Clary tried moving off the bed, but Jace stopped her.

"Clary, you can hardly move," he pointed out.

"But I need to see her," Clary said.

"Magnus isn't letting anyone in there," Simon told her.
